Treading water for a year until you have an A+ hire lined up could have ended up being a better option. The floor is very low now for the next couple years depending on who the hire is and what sort of turnover we see on the roster. Edit: Not saying this is what is going to happen. Just saying the immediate downside is much greater if you're now working down a list of guys that aren't your first choice. Edited March 20, 2021 by FightFor6

This year it could work to our advantage, depending on who leaves. Lots of players will be available as transfers and the new coach may need to grab a few that fit his system.
Hoosier1984 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Yeah Boston reporter said Brad told his players he decided to stay (guessing in that meeting) normally a team will respond and come out and kick butt...instead they lose to the Kings. If that doesn’t tell you where this will end up in a year or two Hippopotamo, ButlerHoosierChef, IndyFife and 2 others 5

SUCK IT BRAD Well I will get some satisfaction out of Celtics fans reactions if it comes out that Steven’s was given a raise in the midst of a seven game slide. Trish and Hippopotamo 2
cleeter Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Call Stromboli. The one stop shop for all moderation and divorce needs. 100% successful divorce rate. My wife is a Purdue fan. And yes I knew that going into it. IU hasn’t beaten Purdue since we started dating April of 2016. I told her if IU doesn’t win next year, I’ll have to do what’s necessary. I really hope I’m not calling you next year at this time. Not because I don’t love my wife, but because I love IU and can’t take anymore losses to that team. HoosierTownie Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 OK, I've had a bourbon (or 3-4) and some dinner, and the raw emotion has worn off. Still going to hold a glimmer of hope, this wouldn't be the first time a coach straight out lied about not taking a new job. But more realistically, we're on to the next option. I know we all have out opinions of who that should be, I certainly have mine, but none of them matter. Dolson is going to get who he can that he feels is the best option available. I'm a lifelong Hoosier fan and regardless of who the coach is I will cheer for our team and players. Stuhoo, NVFalcons1990, cthomas and 1 other 4
DWB Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Nothing says we can't have an "interim" coach for a while, even a year. Not saying we should, but if plan B & C don't work out, then it might make sense to wait another year.
Trish Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 As an NBA guy.. The Celtics roster was beyond terrible at the start of the season. It looks like the boys are lost right now. You know what happens next right? A player asks for a trade in the off-season. Tatum or Brown is going to leave and the Celtics are going to be screwed. It's a players league.
