Were the fans wrong to turn on the last two experiments?  I was willing to give AM a go, MW should have NEVER been hired in the first place.
I'll be interested to see how boy wonder mccollum does in the tourney vs a big name team

Timing most likely and misjudging the interest of top candidates.

Are you suggesting Kentucky can’t pull away a big time coach? For Christ sakes they’ve hire Pitino out of the Big East, Tubby away from an in conference school and Calipari coming off of a huge run at Memphis.

Big time programs hire from other maj conf schools quite a bit, for obvious reasons, but they don’t necessarily do it every time.

This was true 20 years ago.  Is it true today in the NIL landscape?  I legitimately don’t know.  Kentucky tried to pull Drew and were unsuccessful.  That itself is not 100% indicative.  I guess we will see if UNC and Kansas come open in the next couple of years.  I would be curious on what type of candidate they get.

Bronwell would be on the level of a woodson hire

Woodson's head coaching career ended in 2014 before IU was dumb enough to come calling.

I want absolutely no part of seeing Brownell fail here, but it's pretty hard to be on the level of Woodson.

Here’s my question, if this has been done for awhile why are they still vetting people?

Backup in case brad gets cold feet. And if not was vetted, how did we go from “beard is now an option” to “he was vetted and they are moving on” in 2 hours???

nice one Rabby

Well, by definition, if Brad could still get cold feet then it's not a "done deal."

If we're still vetting candidates at this point, then that's not a good sign, given that we've been told Dolson has been in search mode for over a year.

The silence from some of the insiders on BTB is deafening. Everyone just needs to chill.

Been thinking about this for a minute. If Tier 1 and 2 guys are all a hard “no”… just hear me out.

Chris Collins was raised by a very successful NBA coach.

Chris Collins played for an all-time great coach at Duke. He learned about winning, and was surrounded by winners. He was also that timeframe’s “player you hated most.” He would bring that toughness mentality we have been missing. Remember just a couple of seasons back when his backcourt was top notch defensively.

Chris Collins has won at a place that historically never wins. He’s had to build teams while dealing with the academic restrictions that the university prides itself on.He has had little NIL support, and until recently, had to recruit players to play in a glorified high school gymnasium.

Chris Collins is pretty smart guy. Duke has fairly high academic standards as well. I think he would be able to handle the fish bowl that is IU basketball.

I would take Collins over McCollum , Schertz, Brownell, or several other of the tier 3-4 guys that have been mentioned here. The only other guy I might take above Collins is McDermott, however the age difference favors Collins.

So we are going to judge his ability when his 11 seed team half full of D2 players goes against a 6 seed?

Truth is whether he wins or not, it's a one game snapshot.

I like your style Stu. To clarify this GIF was me nodding in agreement to your post. Far from irrelevant. In fact I’d argue none of my visuals have been irrelevant. In fact I’ve tried to convey to the group what information I’ve been provided.

Some post long missives to make their point. Totally fine. I prefer pop culture visuals to espouse mine..

No wonder I never get these. Anyone have a pop culture translator app for this almost boomer lol

I’m right there with ya but he’s a Chicago guy , and just making the tourney is extension / raise worthy season at NW . I would guess he’s pretty happy being at home with little to no expectations.

but yes I think with IUs resources he would kill especially as I’ve said before recruiting the state of Indiana he’s already found a couple of gems (Barnhizer , McIntosh, and now Windham )

I personally would not take Collins over McCollum. Just my two cents.

Collins is a good coach and has done pretty well with the hand he’s been dealt at Northwestern. But he’s not massively exceeded any expectations.

McCollum has done that and more at every stop he’s had. The ceiling is much higher with him.
