Dolson must love seeing Michigan at 20-5, #12 in the country. While Indiana, with projections to finish 1-2 in the Big Ten and an elite transfer class, is about to miss the dance, again.

You can blame Dolson, but I would bet that Dusty said no thanks to the fishbowl!

Well, gosh, if your friend knows some people, that’s it. How bout let’s wait and see what coach we get before worrying that IU can’t hire a good coach?

Yeah. Color me shocked a UM guy thinks someone would never leave UM for another school. That's their baseline.

Until a new coach is hired, I'm choosing to believe it's Stevens.  No inside information.  Just being optimistic that something finally goes right for IU basketball.

What I find interesting and that’s pure speculation is that May either 1. Knew IU already had their coach or 2. Genuinely loves being at Michigan and his personality won’t allow him to leave somewhere after one year especially when QB Dropped the ball and IU could’ve had him last year but I could be totally wrong with my thoughts.

I'm sure we'll hire a good coach. But being able to hire a good coach and being able to hire THE coach that you want is not the same thing.

I've not given up hope. I'm just saying that some of the coaches that we think are within reach are in fact completely uninterested in coming here.

I’m still on the Beard train, but I’ve said that the last 2 times we’re hired a coach so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Same here my man.  I legit just argued with someone on Twitter how they want Bill Self, but would never touch Beard.  I will never understand those fans.  Not saying Beard isn’t a flawed man, but at this point I am almost starting to think you have to be, to succeed here.

Rick pitino endorsed Chris beard for iu job. Posted by inside the hall

Pitino and Beard are friends. Doesn't mean anything beyond that.

Dick Vitale tweeted that IU should hire Tony Bennett. There's no indication that there's any interest in making that happen from either side.

I think his coaching record certainly should make him a top candidate. I really think iu should consider giving him a opportunity

Was he a real candidate, or a smokescreen?

You can only go by what you hear and Ole Miss was always a foot in the door and he has been looking to move up since he signed.  Ole Miss had nothing to lose by hiring him to lead their program with hardly any college basketball history.    People got mad the last IU hiring cycle when he was eliminated from the hot board when people reported IU wouldn’t touch him because of skeletons in his closest.   Texas did hire him and it backfired on them.  Lucky from him the SEC has programs in it that overlook things that some programs just won’t overlook.  Not sure how much more needs to be said about it.   National media reported awhile back after the incident that they expected him to get a job again however it would be highly unlikely he would be hired by any major program outside the SEC.  Things can change and never say never however in my opinion you will continue to see programs pass on him especially outside the SEC

In fact? You know this how? Look, I’m not saying we are going to get the coach we want. But to say that coaches are uninterested is a fact, then back that up. Who have you spoken with who has said they are not interested?

Amen brother...mine is 16 with a teenage attitude and my smart*ss sense of humor, but she'll always be that giggling little toddler who said "Watch me Daddy!"

It seems pretty certain that SD told donors and BOT to shut up. At that point, all the buzz was Stevens. After that our reliable sources here got no more information. If I’m SD, why would I quiet people down (which he did) if they were way off the scent? I’d only do it if they were sharing legitimate information.

Beard is a hell of a coach.

But he's one that is a very risky hire for a program that can draw interest from other coaches that are quality coaches.  As has been said prior, IU vetted him prior to the last hire and it never got past that stage because the general feeling is he has a drinking issue.  He made himself less hireable after the incident at Texas.  He's not going to move directly from Ole Miss to a top paying job unless either more time passes without incident.
