Goodman is definitely sourced. How well? Who knows, he was not on Cignetti at all as I recall. That said, other than shitposting and it being fun to talk about, anyone being rational knows those three were a long shot at best. The tweet is basically saying water is wet. It stinks to have a "journalist" saying it definitively on the record, but does not really move the needle that much for me. 

Also, and this is unrelated, we have talked alot about "winning the press conference." I don't think anyone would have looked at Cignetti as a huge "win the press conference" hire (maybe for us he was I guess, but I digress), until Cignetti won the f***** press conference. So I have faith in Dolson.... Unless he hires Brownell or Turgeon lol

I have no idea what people believe here to be honest. Everyday it's something new. :) So far Stevens, Drew, Turgeon, Beard, TJ, McCollum have all be done deals at some point. 

But, if he is correct, it's the best leak we have seen so far. The other searches seemed to have more info available. That's all I was getting at.

A lot of the Beard angst would go away if he started winning. IU would have to weather the initial storm, but put a top 15 team together and the large majority of the fanbase would love him.

I want to believe the insiders here, and hope they keep posting, but I think Goodman's track record on searches recently is stronger.

So until proven otherwise, I think this is probably a pretty good, if disappointing/depressing, view of where things stand.

I wanted to avoid it as long as possible BUT starting to hope for Chris Beard really only other realistic candidate left seems to be McDermott. That’s really the only other guy I feel as though might be able to get it done .

We all want a big name because why wouldn’t we? We need life in this program and a real coach again. But just a gut feeling, I think the odds are better that the name will be out of left field. I don’t think Scott will leave any stone unturned. Everyone would be wise to remember the UofL and UK searches. They have “great resources” too, but didn’t hire the flashy names. They seem to have worked out.

Can’t like this enough. Of course you’re right. And unless one believes that Scott Dolson is just deeply stupid, and there’s no reason of any kind to think that, with a year to put a profile and a process together I’m 100% confident that the hire, regardless of the size of the name, will have been thoroughly vetted and is gonna make sense. And if we’re past the no hopers now, I am really excited to see how this plays out. But here’s the thing that some folks need to get their minds around: if IU hired the Bama Nate Oats, the UF Todd Golden or the UL Pat Kelsey this place would celebrate but if they hired the Buffalo Nate Oats, the San Francisco Todd Golden or the C of C Pat Kelsey this place would burn to the freaking ground. If they hire Bryan Hodgson or Eric Olen or, yes, Allan Huss it would be awesome because it would mean they were 100% married to their process and that’s where it landed and they don’t care about the presser. Doubt that’s how it goes, but man would that be cool. Imagine it’ll be a rock solid guy with a high major history and that’s cool, too.

I wouldn’t go that far saying it will be Beard, but he is more of a candidate than others being thrown out there.  We have not zeroed in on him, but they did more than a little background on him.  Especially if it was just agent hype.

It's just a logical inference that if you've heard that those coaches are out, then Dolson is moving down his list. IMO the "moving down his list" part is just a logical conclusion, not part of the sources info. 

It isn't a logical conclusion of moving down a list.  You could have 10 guys you have some interest in and send out a note to their agent and say, "Would your guy be interested?"

This could be guy 1, 5, 7, and 10 saying no.  And trusting agents is usually just them pumping their client anyways.  IUCrazy2 has no interest in the Indiana job.  I let Goodman know that.  Doesn't mean Indiana had interest in me.

At the end of the day, just get a competent guy and let our money do the recruiting for awhile.  Most of the guys we are fretting over aren't elite.
