Anyone saying Goodman doesn’t have sources is lying to themselves because they don’t like what he is saying. Goodman is very well sourced.

He absolutely has sources but he also loves to get clicks and attention. His hyperbole is what is so annoying.  Miller was the best hire of the century,  before Woodson we threw everything at Holtman, IU has a great chance at TJ and should go all in (pod cast), etc... so many over the top 'predictions ' make me question his interpretation of that information....

Chris007 has mentioned the knowledge and inside info from Jerry and RTZ and some of the best out there.  I choose to be patient and move forward with Steven’s until any of those 3 say something otherwise. Jmo

We can hope.

Given Goodman’s post, which I strongly suspect is accurate, I would place my primary odds on:

McCollum

Beard

with a dash of Murray, Collins, and maybe some NBA young-ish guy.

Though I can’t think of a young NBA guy with real college experience.

I am warming up to McCollum.  Think that’s the level we end up with if they don’t feel good on Beard or can’t land McDermott/TJO.

Wishful thinking much like Brad Stevens, is still wishful thinking.

When the local beat reporters are unable to sniff out any information about the coaching search, that says a lot and why i put zero trust in goodmans reporting.

The IUFB coaching search just proves my point

Oh I wholeheartedly believe he’s a legit candidate. Nothing would be more “IU basketball” than hiring him. We’re a joke of a program, and Dolson is an empty suit who does whatever the IU basketball overlords tell him to do. We thought the Mike Woodson chatter was a joke, and then Dolson hired him, raised his salary for making the NCAA tournament, and then brought him back for a completely undeserved fourth season.

*cue the responses that it wasn’t Scott’s fault because he had no power 12 months ago but suddenly has complete control*

At some point you just have to accept this is where IU is at as a program. Four second weekend appearances in 30 years and six coaches in 25 years. That’s not appealing to a proven coach at the P5 level with success and good job security. Been trying to warn people for a couple months that getting a proven, high-level basketball coach was pretty much a pipe dream…Kentucky and Louisville taught us that this time last year.

Beard (who I hate) and Will Wade (my favorite from the start) are available but it’d take a bunch of pride swallowing to make it happen, that’s why they’re available. But there’s a reason why this job is only appealing to up and comers.

Just remember guys. Whoever we get is better than Woodson. I do think along with Beard, Brownell etc…that there is a high major coach that nobody is talking about that would be a surprise and a very good one.

If “better than Woodson” is the way we have to sell the hire, we’re in trouble..

Don’t let it get past Beard/Wade/Collins, imo.

It beard it's always been beard! He fits the type of character dolson is looking for. He has the mentality to handle the iu fans and actually wants to be here! He dropped the bob knight quote and knew what he was doing imo. I like the hire but stinks alot won't. Was holding out hope for stevens but all evidence says that isn't happening

Why do you feel they can’t sniff anything out?  Because they aren’t reporting what they hear to the masses and 100% lose their access.  Makes sense

He has sources sure.  But having said that, I don’t think he knows anything as far as what Dolson is doing.

So he’s just throwing that out there based on agent chatter or wherever it’s coming from and hoping not to be wrong? Sounds like hoping more than thinking.

I agree with you here.  We shouldn’t be aiming for just “better than Woodson” with this hire.  IU needs to hire an elite coach.

It will be alright! Whoever they hire will be well vetted and ready to lead the program to prominence once again.

There is no sense in freaking out over every rumor. Out of all the current coaching vacancies, this is the only one not leaking.

The fact they have done nothing outside of “hotboards” is not normal during coaching searches and shows how little info they have been able to get.

I never bought into the Drew or TJ hype.  I don’t believe those coaches are coming here.  If it’s further down the list, give me Chris Beard.

That’s right. What Goodman is saying - and he does have sources - isn’t some sort of shock. Those guys were long shots
