Good post. Of course, if we get Stevens that is awesome. But it comes down to the fork in the road. If it’s between Beard and a McCollum and we choose McCollum…well you get the point. It’s this line of thinking and decision making which reflects why we’ve sucked for so long. Many of these same people probably didn’t want Pitino or Pearl or didn’t like Sampson…yet there’s a common denominator with all 3 coaches…they have National Title Contending Programs seemingly every single .year. Beard has a far more likelihood of succeeding here than a lot of names being thrown out….but sure, let’s hand over the reigns a guy that has coached 2 quad 1 games in his life, has all his players leaving after this year and pray to God he turns into Bo Ryan and not a Todd licklighter, or Archie Miller or the countless of other “up and coming coaches.” Give me a break.

You’re not missing anything on the video. The tweeter posted the back story and it’s a complete nothing burger. All it tells us is that Chris Beard was absolutely hammered around Christmas 2020, which everyone already knew he liked to do.

I'll put it another way. With everything that's being said about him having alcohol issues, I was expecting it to be a video of him screaming at a grown man with his daughter in a bar lol this couldn't have been more opposite from that

In terms of a basketball coach, though, you have to care about the donor block in this day and age.  And Beard likely would have to win with less talent than another hire when some big donors withhold money.

I've been fairly opposed to hiring Chris Beard for a while, but reading some of these posts this morning is pushing me quickly into the camp of hoping he's a candidate. 

I could not care less what a bunch of college professors think. 

I hope it's Brad though. He's the only one who can truly unite the fan base, and I do want us all excited about the hire and optimistic about our future.

Chris Beard is nothing more than an "In Case of Emergency Break Glass" candidate. 

 

That emergency would mean being rejected by at least 5-7 candidates, IU knowingly upsetting some big money donors, and facing immediate PR issues and a potential future PR nightmare.

 

In short...not happening.

Complete nothing burger seeing a high-profile employee within a university completely hammered and on video trash talking about signing a basketball for a kid?   Don't need a backstory same as not needing one for the DV case.   Personally,  it's not a standard I care to be a part of
