Wasn't there a pretty large element of that with Crean? I remember he was always posting scripture references and such on twitter early in his tenure... not a problem, per se, just a point of order.

Yea, he had a pretty big run of Joyce Meyer retweets.

My son works for Andy Mohr so I should have my son talk to Andy the next time Andy is in the office LOL!

I was surprised when I heard he was putting up a lot of money if we could get a certain candidate. Then I looked up his net worth and was also surprised again.

It really surprised me how much money my son makes selling cars. There is plenty of money in it if you work for the right company

Yes, I thought so. I just remember hearing Ned's name a lot in the past searches but not Fuzzy's. This time Fuzzy name has popped up more and Andy Mohr. I haven't seen it but I hear Fuzzy has a really nice place on Marco Island.

Not sure why Fuzzy's name is popping up more but know they've been hanging around from someone who has been hanging around with them

Isn't tony Bennett super religious. Seems we are just looking for any reason now to disqualify good coaches so we can hire a turgeon type in the end.

It has been well documented that Turgeon is left-handed. We must not hire a left-handed coach. They must be eliminated from the candidate list. There is just something about left-handed coaches.....

Calbert says pardon me!

Sure, he can post scriptures on his social media account every hour of the day for all I care...

But if he pushes it on players thats where the issue is..

In N out for example has scripture on the cups and other utensils.. The owners are very very religious..

However they do not force that religion onto the people who work at the company...   But they treat their employees very very well (and pay really really well for a fast food job)

I have no problems with people who are deeply religious personally. I have no problem with people stating their beliefs. The problem is when religious people think they have the only truth and force it on others. If someone can be personally deeply religious and respect others' different religious beliefs, I'm 100% good. One of my best friends is a deeply religious Catholic and I am a staunch agnositic. We have respect for one another and each other's journey to beliefs that cannot be proven.

Everyone has a religion, even if it’s not a church-related one.

This all falls into Dolson needing to figure out who will translate well to IU and succeed here.  I suspect Drew would be fine but I don’t know him at all, so I gotta trust Scott.

This interview, posted before by others, is a good place to start: https://cbn.com/news/us/joy-jesus-others-yourself-baylor-university-mens-basketball-coach-opens-about-his-faith

I do think it helps to know the evangelical community to understand what he’s describing—as with any community there are phrases in the interview that mean more to insiders.

Note that he talks about limits at a secular university in there.

Also re: recruiting it would probably help in some cases! Athletes are much more Evangelical than most people. I just want to underline that Drew is more focused on his faith, every single day, than most mainstream Christians. More even than a Crean or Allen. Not saying it’s bad or good.

We must be doing something wrong because I don't recall a single one of those names being mentioned in this entire thread.

Yes it is a big part of the culture at Baylor but there's nothing wrong with it Baylor is a private Christian school.  He would have to tone it down at a public school like IU.

I believe a pastor speaks to the team before most games much like Sister Jean does at Loyola

Has anyone ever heard the Nebraska softball team coach and players? They’re not the only example. People are getting WAY too caught up with this. If IU hires him he can very much display his faith while at IU. If he wants to personally lead the team in prayer, he can. I think it’s pretty crazy that he’s going “force” players or staff to submit to his way of thinking. He’s gotten ELITE recruits. You think everyone ND football signs is catholic? Sounds like we’ll lose more fans for hiring a religious guy than if we hired Beard the woman assaulter. What a backwards world we live in.

What Bucky McMillian has done at Samford is pretty impressive considering he came from the HS ranks. I gotta imagine he wants Bama or Auburn (if Pearls son doesn't get it) he is Alabama born and raised.
