Some of you have talked yourselves out of every great or even good candidate as a possibility. Stevens won't come because his daughter told him not to, Pearl won't come because his son wants to follow him, Drew won't come because IU is a pagan university, etc.....At this rate, those of you that think so poorly of this job will be just hoping we hire Dan Dakich

That's my point. This job isn't (as) appealing to well-established coaches currently in a good and supporting environment. There's zero reason for somebody like Nate Oats or Bruce Pearl or even Dusty May to leave their current jobs for IU even though IU has more history. 

I'm telling you not to act surprised when IU hires either an up and comer from the lower ranks or a "mediocre P5 coach".

I am a skeptic.  Show me....who will definitely ink a contract.

Until then I have a question:  There was a fun sports bar in Fort Myers Beach named Hoosiers in Paradise.  Do you have knowledge of that?  Any connections?

Saw some games there.  Fun memories.  Walls were like Nick's upstairs.

Lots of B1G fans attended viewing the games.  Not just Hoosiers in paradise.

That's what I thought. So we don't actually know that to be a fact.

Everyone has been burned too many times with mediocre hires.  IU has never pulled a big fish like a Bill Self or a Pitino.  We discuss the big names and then someone like Brownell gets announced.  We then do mental gymnastics justifying how he could win big here.  I hope this time is different, but I can see why some would expect it.

I think he is a good coach and would succeed. And NIL would help ensure he gets good players.

You previously said Beard would never be considered; yet the cream & crimson always rises to the top. I’m saying Beard or Pearl since they clearly are two of the best coaching today that won’t be considered at IU. Can I get an amen IU Prof?

Fair enough... but on the flip side, how often to you read documented reports that [candidate] did not get the job? You often read that [candidate] has withdrawn his name or [other guy] was hired for the job... I mean, I understand your point, but all we have is the word of connected people and "made up stuff"... so, it is what it is.

Maybe Kathy can enlighten us on the process for the football coach hire in a non-visceral, non-knee-jerk way.
