Ok. Kalen Deboer had Washington rolling but left for Alabama. The point being that coaches leave despite the fact that their current team had achieved success

Bama wasn’t a rebuild.   The argument would be why leave the program that he built into where it is today where they are going to have 16+ Q1 wins and easily the number 1 overall seed.  Has 5 SEC championships over the last couple years(conference tourneys included) and a trip to the final 4 why would you leave for a program that has had 1 winning conference record in the last 9 years, 0 championships and hasn’t made it past the second round.  Why chance leaving for a program like that on a maybe they can turn it around back to where they were with all the resources when you are already in one of the top 2 conferences and have it rolling.

Yes he does.  I question whether the fire is there to coach in college in today's environment.

I disagree.  This is a man that puts in the work with every job he’s attained.  If he were to coach IU, he’d be fully committed to the job.  No doubt.

I’m not sure I understand your point. My current position isn’t relevant. You can point to lots of athletes that chase their dream jobs which typically coincide with their hometown teams. And, just to be clear, I’d listen if the Astros or Dodgers called..

It is relevant. You just made a horrible analogy. It’s more like saying if Bruce Pearl was a middle school teacher and IU was his dream job and the offered him half his salary he would take it in a heartbeat. Except he isn’t a middle school teacher. He’s in the same exact position IU could offer him, but currently for the #1 team in the country.

Lots of chatter just last year that he was interested. If true not sure why he would no longer be

Some other chatter that he wanted to get assurances little Pearl would get to be coach when he retired.  So I wonder if it was "I am willing to leave unless..." and if he got the assurance he needed he may not be willing now.  Who knows if true

Won’t happen.  If Dolson hired Brownell I expect the fan base to personally hide-strap his @$$ to a pine rail and send Scott up the Monon Line.

So basically what you’re saying is that “there’s two kinds of dumb: someone who fires a coach, runs out in the snow and hires Brownwell, and the person who does the same thing in Assembly Hall. The first doesn’t matter much, but the second you kinda have to deal with.”

I still think more things will be leaked as the next couple weeks go.

Yes, if things don’t start leaking the week of the Big Ten Tournament I will be ready to totally give up on BS— if we have our man, he has to start the moving process, assembling a staff, and his old job has to start replacing him—this can’t wait till the last second. At that point, so many will be involved that someone will leak.

I am surprised we have not heard anything from the media of IU even sniffing around some college coaches.

Or agents really getting their clients names out in public for big raises.
