Personally, I'd be kinda surprised if the new coach kept any of the three. Malik seems like a good kid, but as someone else put it, he's the type of player that gets you fired. Good enough you have to play him, but too many holes in his game to be a key cog in a championship level team. Mgbako needs a change of scenery. Rumor is that Tucker has been difficult behind the scenes (which is saying something with this crew).

I think you need a full reset to fix the culture.

A good coach would know that Malik either has to develop his game beyond 10-feet or needs to accept being a small ball 5 and really focus on being able to defend as a 5. Our roster construction did Malik no favors.

He/she can answer for themselves if they want to. But take the information as given and be grateful it was shared.

This board is awesome.

Cue Usps with his daily disclaimer...

And "awesome" like Mr Toad's Wild Ride.

Otz contract is really odd. The two things we know (salary and buyout) are to his benefit, and you have to assume there are some financial support promises in there for him too. Contracts are a two way street but on the surface it looks like ISU is getting railroaded. Someone make it make sense.

Possibly more financial commitment to the basketball program as a whole with NIL, but not sure if that would go into a coaches contract or not.

The only one I could see him keeping is Rice. But that is just my opinion. At the UCLA game, Tucker got taken out, gave Woodson and one of the assistants a death stare for like 5 minutes and then checked out the rest of the game.

Makes sense. “Universally liked” and currently coaching leads me to think Drew. With Cronin and one more rounding out the top 3. McCollum as plan D or E.

Could we call Cronin "universally liked"? What constitutes "universal"? I've seen plenty of dissenters around these parts, and I am one, as well... not a fan of his personality, coupled with a somewhat pedestrian record at Cincinnati and UCLA...

The only thing I know us who we aren't hiring because well they aren't pure.

Beard

Pitino

Pearl

May ship sailed last year

Stevens 2% chance

Bronwell 50% chance

Cronin 25% chance

Sisley and Hrno.  Cupps might be kept around for positive culture.

on Tucker:  sequence of events — when he got pulled after 5 minutes against UCLA, he was laughing as he went to the bench.  I would assume that an assistant said something to him about his attitude (rightly so) and Tucker didn’t handle it well.

Drew would potentially be the universally liked candidate and Cronin otherwise in the top 3.

this post will be met with skepticism, which is understandable. but it won't be Stevens. 100% confident on that. Dolson's current list is 3, he doesn't have his "man", but any of those 3 would be really strong hires. has plans D and E as well, names we've all heard but hope it doesn't get to them. Nothing announced until late march at the earliest. deep talks with 1 candidate in particular, a name i think would be just about universally liked, but nothing signed and won't be until his team is done

I got nothin’. Not only is that not prohibitive, it feels like a get out of jail free card.
