Don’t need to win the press conference just need to get a college basketball coach that’s a grinder and with ius resources they will be just fine

How far down do you think Louisville got before they ended up with Pat Kelsey? I’m guessing the Louisville boards lost their mind.   College of Charleston head coach is killing it at Louisville.   Kentucky hired a former Utah Valley and BYU head coach.  I’m sure Kentucky fans thought they were getting an established high major head coach.   They didn’t and Mark Pope in year 1 has that fan base as excited as they have been in a while.  These 2 will need to continue building the program however both have their programs off to a fantastic start.   Iu will be just fine in my opinion no matter who Dolson ends up hiring as long as that coach is a college basketball lifer and grinder that program will have a chance to crawl out of the mediocre hole they have been living in

Could be true. OTOH, Crean, Archie, and Sampson are all lifers and grinders.

The IU basketball job is hard. That’s why you get paid a lot to do it. It’s a harder job than Oklahoma and Dayton and Marquette and so on and so forth.

Dolson isn’t your problem. He wanted to hire Fitzgerald as the football coach. But his boss, a female at that, might have something to say about it…just like she did with the Fitzgerald (non) hire.

Then she’s holier than thou  too!  He’s supposed to be innocent until proven guilty!  She dropped the charges!  Everyone needs to get past it and move on.

IU has to really try to F*** up this hire! If they do? Well?

If it’s Brownell then I think we can fully state this program has no desire to have a good basketball program. I wouldn’t be a fan of Cronin but at least we would be in the NCAA Tournament the majority of the time. I have faith in Dolson, but how things have went the last 25 years, I’m just cautious in how all this will play out.

Yep.   Nothing is a guarantee.  You step in the box and take a swing.   It will either work out or it won’t.   You do this until you get it right.  Doesn’t matter how many cycles it takes.   What you don’t do is hire a non college basketball coach and think it’s going to work.

As long as other people move on when the search firm IU hired does its  background checks and he doesn’t end up IUs coach.   3 major jobs were open last year and none of them hired him to lead their program.  For me that’s odd that a top 3 on the court coach didn’t get swooped up by those teams 2 which could arguably of needed a home run hire worse then IU needs this cycle.

That sounds like what the AD of the UAB basketball program says lol

The fact that it’s paltry just speaks to the fact he was never leaving Michigan and the original buyout wasn’t so he could bolt and save IU money like I tried saying over and over. Based on his own statement, this seems like it was literally just to pay lip service to an extension so the media would stfu about him to IU. Our chance was last season, we blew it, and we’ve got 2000 pages of FMW that says we were all right for thinking it.

I texted a friend of mine who knows some folks at UM athletics when this news broke. He said Dusty was never even planning on entertaining an offer from IU.

I think perhaps the most damaging think that IU did by keeping Woodson for a meaningless 4th year was scare away talented coaches. People see the dumpster fire that is the IU administration and want nothing to do with it. And frankly I can't blame them.

Maybe he wasn't ready to move after 1 year?

Well, gosh, if your friend knows some people, that’s it. How bout let’s wait and see what coach we get before worrying that IU can’t hire a good coach?

Dolson must love seeing Michigan at 20-5, #12 in the country. While Indiana, with projections to finish 1-2 in the Big Ten and an elite transfer class, is about to miss the dance, again.

You can blame Dolson, but I would bet that Dusty said no thanks to the fishbowl!

Yeah. Color me shocked a UM guy thinks someone would never leave UM for another school. That's their baseline.

Until a new coach is hired, I'm choosing to believe it's Stevens.  No inside information.  Just being optimistic that something finally goes right for IU basketball.

What I find interesting and that’s pure speculation is that May either 1. Knew IU already had their coach or 2. Genuinely loves being at Michigan and his personality won’t allow him to leave somewhere after one year especially when QB Dropped the ball and IU could’ve had him last year but I could be totally wrong with my thoughts.

I'm sure we'll hire a good coach. But being able to hire a good coach and being able to hire THE coach that you want is not the same thing.

I've not given up hope. I'm just saying that some of the coaches that we think are within reach are in fact completely uninterested in coming here.
