And he also knows Brad is 99% not coming meaning he knows he’s almost certainly getting the offer.  If he signs a new deal he’s clearly not interested.  He’s not going to sign a deal increasing his buyout from $5M to $20M if there’s even a chance he’d take the IU job.

Heard over on Trillys discord Bill Self rumors are starting to fly, in recent days I've started to think he might be a Dark horse candidate? 
The more Kansas loses this season the more realistic it becomes. Kansas fans want Nate Oats BAD and he would leave Bama in a heartbeat for KU.
Self would have the same set of resources that he does at Kansas same national exposure but with a fanbase and administration that at least for 4-5 years are gonna be happy with a top half of Big Ten and just stabilize the program by getting the tourney every year. And if one year you go on a run ? Well you go out as the savior of one of the proudest brands in college hoops. Could be his coaching career swan song?

He is probably as likely as stevens is. Like 2%

We also don't know for sure Brad said "I'm not a candidate for the IU job. Jeff may have asked "hey your not a candidate for the IU job for real are you?" Then Brad gave him his quote. 

Also entirely possible Jeff added the Not a candidate on his own because he enjoys antagonizing the IU fan base because they fired his little podcast buddy Archie. I personally think Goodman is a CLOWN

As @WayneFleekHoosier has been saying this all sure seems to point to Dusty. The extension still looming, the buyout, the ties and the comments at the presser. The most intriguing of those comments was when he said he hasn't even talked about the job "besides with family" or something very close to that. So haven't talked about it except with the most important people in his life. I'm at about 90% certain it'll be May and I'm cool with that.

Not making a prediction, but anyone think the timing of the Marquette game announcement was unusual and early, before we have a coach?  Aside from multiple game series and mte, non conference scheduling seems to be relationship based.  Eiu, ualr, Kennesaw st are some examples. Fyi,  Marquette was butlers opponent in bs final game as a college coach.  Marquette s coach, shaka is close with bs, going back their a10 days and before.  Bs would even go to vcu games while he was the Celtics coach.  No idea if its bs, but how cool would it be for his 1st iu game to be against shaka.

I’m not a Goodman fan… at all. In the slightest. That said, again working under the smoke screen theory set of assumptions which I don’t personally buy into… this would be super coordinated. Brads team would give Goodman the generic “being a Celtic makes me feel warm and fuzzy” quote and tell him to state Stevens isn’t a candidate. That’s where all the ambiguity is invited.

Don’t think there’s anything actually there IMO. Being wrong would be cool though. Just hoping Dolson actually knows what he’s doing this go round.

Can buy that from the Goodman angle but boy....the hoops in this obstacle course. To each their own. Speculation is fun for awhile. I'm nearing the point of just wanting this to all be over.

I hope you are right… I feel 90% certain it will be “the field” as of now. But Dusty would be the coup of a lifetime.

I’m just using the Beard avatar because I think it is hilarious, Beard with Lucille is funny as hell! I will be changing it as soon as a final decision on the coaching search is made! But I will say this, if Dolson would pick Beard, I know it won’t happen, I would support the choice. But because of the way that choice would divide the fanbase, I hope he chooses someone less polarizing.

Thought I read it was a MTE with these two as the headliners, with an earlier game at home opponent TBD.

Probably needed to confirm the venue and logistics.

Indiana needs to inquire about Todd Golden from Florida.  He is only 39 and his teams play hard on both offense and defense.  The buyout is only $2 million and he's currently 2nd in the nation, probably should be 1st.  

He is my number 1 choice
