That’s pretty much how it was described to me by someone who also added a “prologue” by saying that Woodson might have been led to believe 4 years earlier that the job would be his when Crean was fired. Either led to believe that by Glass himself or by someone else. But it ended up being Archie instead.

Yes Glass told Quinn he would hire Mike if they agreed to let Crean go. Then went behind his back to Archie and never even interviewed Mike

Hey @Hornsby

You are continuing to post but did not answer any of this. Rick and Alex Bozich are reasonably connected and I'm wondering if they went on record stating that Stevens was literally a zero % chance.

Soooo?

It was Rick a few days ago

I'm pretty sure Hornsby has no idea where he is even at right now. I'm also going out on a limb and saying he will not be happy whoever the next coach is.

What do you make of Osterman saying 5% chance Brad is the next coach?

I wish Scott would have done the same thing. Honestly I respect Glass a little more now.

I don't know, it's possibly the smartest thing he did with IUBB and it still came back to bite us.

That is a head scratcher, not sure why Michigan would agree to that low buyout?

Two options:

  1. Dusty demanded/negotiated it.
  2. Michigan wanted an "out" in case Dusty was a bust.

take your pick.

For all of Glass' faults... he was genius with that move... but Buckner ended up screwing over the basketball program any way...power corrupts. Absolutely power corrupts absolutely.

Bozich says 0% chance. Our insiders say numbers have been discussed. Somebody will be dead wrong.

So our insiders have said numbers have been discussed with Stevens recently? When was this mentioned?

It's not #2 since his buyout for getting fired is 70% of his remaining contract which comes out to something like $10.5-11M.

There are 2 different buyouts.

Your #2 would refer to a different buyout clause

Well, that only leaves one option. /s

I think it is definitely #1….and why would Dusty demand such a low buyout? Maybe he was up front with them and said if IU opens up and they offer I will likely take it. Or maybe we are over-estimating his interest, maybe he has his eye on another opening?

Indeed. Schools want the buyout for a coach leaving to be as high as possible while coaches want just the opposite. It's obvious that May/his agent worked to get it low.
