This here is one of the biggest reasons why I can’t wait for IU to be great again.  The media doesn’t want IU to be great again.  I’m sick of them smiling ear to ear when talking about IU’s failures.  Yes, IU has been terrible for quite a bit now.  However, the right hire changes that narrative.

Connie Chung is married to "which man here is the father of your baby?  The lie detector says". Maury Povich...lol.  She has no standards.

I wonder if the BOT sound like us on this forum, my goodness, I almost feel sorry for them in making a choice, back in the day.  They probably just told Quinn to make the decision and went home.

I went to a charity golf tournament and the booze was flowing.  I'm not sure there are any sober coaches or the people that hang with them around.  The country club set loves their cocktails.

If I favor a coach,  I don't care what other fans and media say, and I don't worry if we will be a laughing stock.  Honestly, we can't fall much further in being a joke to others at this point.  Saying that we can't do this or that because of the optics is not great, isn't something I worry about.  There aren't many schools or coaches that can pass the squeaky clean test.

Oh and last point,  MIck Cronin may be an a$$,  but yelling at his team or throwing them under the bus, is the last thing that team is worried about.  My 7th grade coach called us "little M fers" everyday.  Not a big deal when your coach goes off on you.

So because Connie Chung has "no standards" that means what Knight said was okay?

I don't mind a hard @$$ coach if it gets results from players-yelling at them at practice or in a game or making them sit on the bench when they screw up, etc...RMK was a basketball savant no question ; however there's absolutely no way you can clean up a misogynistic comment like that-I don't care if he was serious or not; it's still just wrong for a ton of reasons

sorry must be the girl dad in me...

My biggest worry is the last time we didn’t get Brad, we got Woody….it’s like, it’s Brad or nobody! If not Brad this time, how bad could it be?

Everyone arguing the merits of every coach listed and why we won't get them or shouldn't hire them. We might as well make a list of posters on here as potential coaches at this point lol

I get the concern. However, this time around Quinn doesn’t have a best pal with a failed pro coaching career who needs a higher paying and more prestigious job than NBA Assistant.

If Brad says no, Scott should be allowed this time around to move on to #2 (Dusty?), and if he says no we move to choice #3, etc. until we get a yes.  This is how a normal, well run school behaves.  I just saw Mitch Barnhart at Kentucky go through this process — they didn’t panic after getting a few “no’s.”

Is he even a journalist anymore? The only post I see of his is him grilling out and walking their dog.

He has to say that to keep all the cat and card fans in his back yard happy

Josh Pastner is the answer to the question "Who would you actually hire Brad Brownell over?"

I thought the only reason Pastner ever got hired in the first place was his link to AAU/travel programs. It had nothing to do with any alleged coaching abilities.

NIL would essentially make Pastner even less revelant in 2025.

Yikes!

Personally, I would rate them on a scale from one to ten.  I don't know how other people would rate them.

I have zero desire for Mick Cronin. I’ve had to deal the last 8 years listening to coaches voices/personality I can’t stand. I feel like we can get someone just as good as Cronin but with some actual heart, charisma, and care for his players. I want a coach that players want to run through a wall for and I just don’t see that for Cronin and he’s not someone I see who can have a long sustained success here because of it.

I feel like Cronin's agent is a huge IU fan and likes to post on this board. I have never heard more pumping up of a more mediocre candidate than Cronin....while also being so dismissive of every other candidate as bring "unrealistic". The only people that know if a coach is realistic or not is their respective agents and families.

Yep he’s 15-14 in the NCAA tournament with only one final four appearance. If we are looking for a true homerun hire I just don’t see it.
