I mean if we want to get down to the current state of things..

Arkansas has a better arena, a better basketball practice facility, and a better team. Easier conference to win. If Mussleman wants to return to the NBA then he should stay at Arkansas. He is about to get paid big time at Arkansas.

One season better since 1996 and it’s a better job? Thats laughable

sorry back on topic I won’t respond anymore.

The only thing I know for fact at this point is that dolson said on his PR that you will not hear from me until I introduce the new coach and I hope you respect that. And my goodness was he not kidding. So much random talk and rumors by message boards, local and National media, contradictory stories and reports. NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING

I think social media has made it to hard to be a sports fan.  I should no better than keep coming on these boards but I keep torturing  myself.  I think once the coaching search is over it is time for a vacation from social media.

Not sure what is happening here.

My source told me a few hours ago that the "Holtmann" news was not real. I then told another poster here in a PM the same over an hour before Rabby tweeted it.

I know some doubt my "sources". Just trying to take away some of that doubt.

The more rumors that come out, the harder it is for me to believe that they’re all just fabrications. Especially when you combine them with my complete lack of faith in the IU administration.

Won't try to change your take on the administration.  I look at all the rumors as evidence that Dolson has kept a tight lid on his search and the rumors are getting started because Goodman, Doyel, etc., want to be able to claim they broke the news first and citing unidentified sources is a way to do that.  So we'll agree to disagree.

Doyle has reported that Dolson is using back channels to contact candidates so that he maintains plausible deniability. Goodman said IU zeroed in on Holtmann, Rabjohns said Dolson didn't talk to Holtmann. So it is entirely plausible, and perhaps even likely, that IU reached out through some intermediary, but is now trying to use the Dolson didn't talk to him line to cover its tracks.

SI picked up the Holtman stuff, I seriously can not imagine IU spending 12 million to buy him out. If we have that kind of jack for a buyout, why not offer Brad 15 million a year? The numbers seem outlandish for this to be true.

Ah gotcha. I follow you on Twitter so I am familiar with you. I know that not all scoops pan out. Heck I have good info on Woodson but even that is from his perspective and may not match Dolsons. This stuff could be 100% accurate at one point in time then something can change but it does not impact whether the info was good at one point

Chain of events:

1.  Goodman claims that IU had zeroed in on Holtmann, who rejected them saying “he had a source”.

2.  247 reports it, citing only Goodman’s report.

3.  Rabjohns tweets it, citing 247 report whose only reference was Goodman’s report.

4.  Rabjohns deletes the tweet, assumedly after checking with the athletic department, saying it was not true.

If Goodman’s info is bad, it gets multiplied.
