I really thought adding the comment about Dolson blocking himself from googling "who should I hire" would have been a dead giveaway of the absurdity of my post.

Obviously Dolson has been doing something!

Yea, that's my bad. When I re-read it later on I realized you were joking. Or just a really strange guy. Could be both, I guess.

The most historic hire for the program and credit goes to Dolson and Whitten. That hire told all of us that IU was finally going to get serious with the football program. I'm telling myself it will go down as the hire that changed the fanbase to football first fans. I know that's pipe dream but I've been dreaming for that since the 80s. But more CFP appearances, Heisman candidates, First team All-Americans, first and second NFL round picks, conference championships, etc. etc. will definitely help. I'm kind of shocked I'm not seeing more traffic in the football section here. We're like in the middle of spring ball. And the team, on paper, is even better than last year's CFP team. Exciting times for IUFB 812FB folks!!!

I live down in SEC country now and it is cool to wear IU gear around and have SEC fans walk up and ask me about IU football.  Was even out in Denver this fall and in a small restaurant about 1/3 of us were IU fans/alumns but were all separate groups.  I saw a girl wearing the Cig shirt and as we were talking 2 other groups nearby heard us and suddenly an IU reunion broke out.

I believe IU fans are still weary, even with last year's success, due to decades of being beat down. After the 2020(?) season where IU got the screwed out of the B1G championship game, it has made me cautious to invest my time, emotions, and $ into the program out of fear of a one-hit wonder. An 8+ win season this year and I'd be willing to say the IUFB section starts filling up on here.

So does it seem likely to you that Dolson doesn't know who the hire is?
I assume it's still not 100% his decision. He gets a list of guys he is allowed to hire imo and a naughty list he cannot touch. So I don't believe it's 100% his call.

I will say with IU out of the tourney that is the game I'm most looking forward to watching not only because I obviously want to see Purdue lose to a 13 seed, but I honestly think I'd rather have Huss than McCollum. The highest Mid-Major guy on my list.

- Spent years under McDermott a successful power 4 coach

-Coached / Recruited kids it takes to win a the Big Ten level

- Obviously has BIG TIME prep school connections having coached at LaLu but also probably would do well in the State of Indiana with LaLu being located in the state.

I still think Will Wade in the best / most obvious realistic choice but just no indication IU in willing to look in his direction .

Article states Iowa might have financial problems and might not be willing to pay the buyout for Devries which is 4.6 mil

4.6 mil is no cheap tag.  I'm not privy to Iowa's NIL or money situation...but from many accounts, they're struggling in that department.

He still signed off on woodson and praised him at the press conference. It's still under his watch.

IIRC, Crean was fired right before the ball was tipped on Thursday of the tourney. From a PR perspective, I could see us announcing something then (if not an active coach with team in tourney)

A firing you’d want to hide within the tourney starting…but hiring a new guy—if it’s one not currently coaching—you’d want to dominate the ncaam news cycle for the day

Does it seem like that will happen again, after hiring Cignetti?

Not sure I understand what that means.

last go around Dolson was charged with finding the coach, no different than this go around. At a similar stage in the game, he did not have anyone locked in, thus he didn’t know who the coach would be. Later on, they took that control from him but that’s not the point. It’s entirely possible Dolson still doesn’t know who it is
