Maybe there isn’t any new news. There were a few people with apparent inside info that said we would not hear anything for a few weeks or when our season ends. We aren’t there yet.

The issue is simple... as the season winds down for some of these teams, more coaching openings are created... and there is a finite number of quality/successful candidates to fill those slots... and competition heats up for those schools with openings... supply and demand would suggest that coaches are gonna get paid.

I wish it was $8M if he left. I still think $3.3M is too much to pay for him but I could see IU doing that.

You weren’t asking me but if I may. Bloomington isn’t that big and the amount of people close to things is even smaller. All it takes is a little exaggeration or misunderstanding from 1 person that people respect or believe is in the know and it snowballs.

take this board for example. People respect Chris007 for example and while I don’t think he would purposely mislead anyone, if he shared that we interviewed Beard for example because he was told that and that was incorrect, we only vetted him or took a call from his agent, this board would likely believe and repeat that we interviewed Beard and he was a real candidate and that would then make its way off this board to word of mouth and social media and impact Vegas odds etc

it doesn’t take much to get incorrect info swirling and in some cases it was never intentional

Yea I have met some NBA scouts at IU games in the past. The only identifying thing they had was a leather portfolio with their team’s logo on it - if even that.

my point is that there are only a few people that have all the info and if those people are leaking things then they should be fired.  I don’t believe the info that hits these boards is directly coming from those people but people around them and that leaves room for error and consistent error because the error of one quickly becomes a thing that is whispered, texted, message board fodder, social media posts etc.
