Which Brownell is the real Brownell? The guy who went to the tournament 3 times in his first 13 seasons and teetered on and off the hot seat, or the guy from the past two seasons? How much has he benefited from the ACC becoming a weak conference? Sure Clemson isn’t a basketball Mecca, but it’s not Siberia, and it doesn’t have Northwestern’s Ivy League admission standards. His results have been very mediocre and outside of the past two seasons hasn’t shown an ability to elevate a program. I’d much rather take a flier on Collins or a risk on McCollum than go with Brownell.

Would be hilarious for so much thought and care going into making Woody’s exit as graceful as possible, only for them to be forced to play in the Crown tournament basically a month after the season is over. And consequently end up announcing the next coach before he is actually off the sidelines lol. Don’t see how that tournament can possibly take place logistically but I’m sure people much smarter than me figured it out….

Spoke to an agent who said that Drew and May couldn't get an interview because Dolson already had his guy at the end of Feb.

I love this but ready for it to be over. 

#1. You need fewer friends. 
#2.  If a deal has been done since ~March 1, it has to be a current non-coach. Contracts can be discussed, but an actual contract couldn’t be “done” while a coach is still under contract with another school. 
#3.  How was Shaka interviewed last week if May and Drew couldn’t get interviews earlier because of a done deal?

#4. May’s extension has always led me to believe something was already baked in for the IU job.

I just can’t imagine a world where that would take place. I’d be excited if Smart was a legitimate candidate, but it’d be downright silly to interview him and not the other two.

We win the off-season every year. We don't need instant juice. We need actual wins during the season. I don't care if we don't make a sexy and exciting hire as long as the guy comes in and wins games.

As I said Dolson interviews are different then the search firms interviews. The search firm is doing Mark Turgeon stuff

Dolson is meeting with the real people one-on-one and some are complaining that their client could get a call returned. 

Of course that makes me believe one thing

Hmmmm.  The "someone just as big" is both intriguing & concerning.  Wasn't it Jerry who posted with a capitolized Few?  On the other hand it could be anyone and they're trying to pimp up that coach.

Whatever the case, it HAS been an impressively run search.

‘Contractually obligated’ to go to the crown tournament has still not been verified as to what that means.  Sports illustrated reached out to the crown and asked that very question and did not receive an answer.  May simply mean a team can’t accept an NIT bid instead of the crown (schools would prefer the NIT if it meant home game).

I would characterize Cignetti as confident. I’ve never considered him arrogant. I never see him at the meetings, anyway…
