Pitino has added three players to the roster in the past three days — Daniss Jenkins (point guard), Sean Conway (wing), and Alieyne.  Jenkins should be the best if the three, played at Iona under Pitino and has three years left.  Conway is a 6’5” player from VMI.  Good shooter and okay rebounder, probably not quick enough to play the 2 in a power 5 so more likely plays the 3 at at. John’s.

Sounds like we should hear something soon on Knecht. It's either Oregon, Tennessee, or he decides to do more visits. If I'm IU, I move on if he doesn't give you an answer this week on whether he wants to visit or not. Yes, I would love to have him. He is my top option IU has went after so far. However, don't want to go all in on him and lose out on other decent options. Sounds like Cormac Ryan and El Ellis are the backup options....at this moment.

Interesting just entered today….Jaylon Tyson from Texas Tech.  6’6” wing.  Played one year at Texas then transferred to Texas Tech last year.  Assume would need to get a waiver from the NCAA since it’s his second transfer.

The bad:  only played in 8 games at Texas his freshman year.  Transferring twice in two years brings questions.

The good:  36th ranked recruit out of high school.  Started all 31 games for Texas Tech last year.  Shot 48% overall and 40% from three.  10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds last year.

Ryan would be a helluva “consolation prize.”

Cormac Ryan is a mature, pure catch and shoot stroke, defensive plus player. Very little ball handling but would nevertheless improve any program.

Not nearly as high a ceiling as Knecht, but a higher floor.

The 22-23 Hoosiers really could have used a Cormac Ryan. Could easily score 10 points a game and shoot close to 40% from 3.

Quincy Olivari commits to Xavier.  Guard averaged 19 points at Ricd last year.  IU had touched base with him early.

So, other than getting our #1 target and #2 recruit in the whole portal to commit, and waiting for a decision this week on our uncommitted #2 target, we seem to be striking out.

These things do take time, but as far as Knecht and Ledlum, I sure hope we are looking at other alternatives.  There are other fish in the sea!  

I honestly wouldn’t think Sparks was our #2 recruit.  He’s a nice recruit and will contribute and be a decent part of the rotation, but I don’t believe he was a ever a #2 recruit.  Heck, I don’t even think Ledlum was a #2 recruit.

I do think that Ledlum has been at a minimum our number two target after Ware—maybe number one.

Sparks is different—more like mutual immediate interest.

Portal targets change at a really fast pace.  Shedrick was a top target since they had a connection and everyone was waiting for him to enter.  Ware enters portal and quickly becomes a top target in portal nationally.   IU (Ya did a tremendous job making a connection) gets foot in the door and ultimately landed him and were able to move on from Shedrick.   Ledlum has always been a top target for IU.   You could make the case he was their number 1 target overall.  Fans might have questions about his fit but staff have clearly made him a top priority.

It’s incredible that the NCAA lets other teams recruit alongside IU.  Why can’t we just put it in madden mode?
