I don't think the boosters would've given their "private philanthropic donations" if Dolson didn't tell them that he had someone major to replace Archie with. I don't see them ponying up for a Dane Fife or a Steve Alford. It has to be someone they know would get the program where they want it to be. But that's just my personal opinion.

I think he would have to give them some indication of replacement for sure.

This a joke by the way, just in case people think I'm trolling.

I thought something was up when I saw an SUV at Cook Hall late at night last night...

My guess is Beilein with an IU guy in waiting.

You don't pony up this kind of money and not form a search committee if you don't have your guy. Anyone else we'd want is still coaching.

I hope it's not Beilein, tbh. Nothing against him. He's a great coach. But he's 68 years old and his last coaching act was calling his players thugs..

I really would be shocked if it were Beilein. Unpleasantly shocked.

I'd be cool with it if there's a plan since yeah, he's not a long-term option. His move to the NBA was just stupid. He had Michigan rolling year after year. People make mistakes.

He wins. That's all I care about short term.

No search committee needed - Sounds like he knows who he wants.
Money wasn't a problem as it appears Boosters stepped up for that...

In a way, I take it as he was making fun of the way Fred handled his search. And I take it as he knows what he wants and that list is short

I just think his age + the thug comment might turn some recruits off.  There are some older coaches out there, but they're all established at their schools. Beilein would be building something new at 68.

All the guy has ever done is win?

Nothing against him, except his age. It took a while for him to get rolling at Michigan. We (nor he) have that kind of time.

Steven's or JohnB short term. Just uneducated thought.

Also, thanks Archie. I have zero doubt you put a lot into it. I can't imagine what goes on we don't see or even think about. Things just didn't work. I think everyone wanted you to be the guy. I'll end up rooting for you later at the new spot.
