IU wasn’t in his final 5

henry dropped IU after Hunter committed. IU tried to convince him that he still had a spot but Henry and his camp felt Hunter and him occupied the same space

If Hunter doesn’t commit on the Monday after Henry got an offer I would of guessed he would of went to IU

Yep, I think that was the exact timeline.  I also think people are being revisionist on Henry's perceived value as a recruit.  He was a very late riser.  He wasn't in the top 150 I believe when IU offered.  At the time IU offered, his other offers were Butler, UMass, Xavier, and Nebraska.  Michigan State, in fact, was the last team that offered him.  I also don't think there would have been a coach that would have truthfully told you that if given the choice of Hunter or Henry at that point that they would have taken Henry.

This has been up all day. Normally they get corrected within an hour.

Around the time that Matt Painter was threatening to leave Purdue for Missouri, I contributed the term "paintered" to Urban Dictionary with a definition of 'blackmailing the shithole company you are working for about leaving for another shithole company" and gave the contributor a name that matched a prominent Purdue basketball fan that was posting on a message board I was on.  Stayed up for a couple of years, LOL.

TBH, the Archie-Wikipedia thing disappoints me. The guy wasn't a cheater like Sampson or a schmuck like Crean. He came here and worked his a$$ off -- for myriad reasons, it just didn't work out.

Taking shots like that is petty and unnecessary.

Fans wonder why a coach wouldn't want to come here -- that's why.

I really don't think he tried hard enough. He tried too hard to make a terrible system work.

I agree with everything except that last sentence.  This childish stuff happens at all the big programs, yet they still reel in big name coaches.

Billie Gillespie was chased out of Rupp Arena and UK still hired the hottest commodity.

I don't do the childish Wikipedia stuff, I don't condone it, but it is not the reason a good coach wouldn't want to come here.

Hate to say it.....but we aren't Kentucky.  Butnyes, other programs certainly have the same vitriol.

There is a poster on the other site who works with Henry's Dad. He says that Henry's Dad told him that once Hunter and Damezi committed that IU stopped calling them.

I disagree he worked his a$$ off.  The previously posted article with quotes from is first press conference regarding an up tempo offense etc. is exactly what he didn't provide.  Why?  That is completely on him.  If a future coach is going to be butthurt over a truthful wiki page, then go coach D3.

Most coaches would probably smirk if they read that. It kills me how this fanbase thinks coaches are too sensitive to want to deal with us.

Unnecessary, true. But it happens at just about every school.

A good coaching candidate would give zero sheets about some knucklehead on wiki.... There are knuckleheads everywhere.

At the end of the day, most coaches work their azzes off. They are paid a lot of money to do so. There are lots of things to point to, but at the end of the day, it just didn't work out. I think it's fair to say that perhaps Archie just bumped his head on the ceiling stepping up to the Big10.

Any coaching candidate that would be frightened away by something like that is soft anyway, and we're better off without them.

Somewhat agree with this. Most big-time coaches know that fans are idiots but you have to deal with them as part of the job.
