Stevie's a cheap bastard. 

He was just using the UCLA recruiting budget to justify a free trip home to visit his family. Wouldn't be shocked if he paid his dad a "consulting fee" from the recruiting budget during the episode.

Eh, I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. If a recruit is secretly signed other coaches could waste time and resources they could put towards another target.

Full disclosure: That wouldn't stop me from laughing if it happened to pUKe.
