These last 5 years are maybe the best stretch in Purdue basketball history. And amongst the worst for IU. And still, over those 5 seasons Purdue is only 4-5 vs Indiana. Please let us win this game, it would be so fun.

A lot of people wrote them off after a tough 4 game losing streak and took that opportunity to say they weren’t a tourney team and would be lucky to win 7 conference games. Reality is they are basically exactly where most the national basketball media and most fans thought they would be at this point. Even with a flawed roster DeVries has them positioned to make the tourney in his first year(all I heard over the summer was just find a way to get in the tourney). Still have 5 regular season games left but as of today IU is a projected tourney team.

IU is a 9 seed in the medias mock selection they did today. Still want to see how the actual committee seeds the top 16 this Saturday to see what they value. The number to pay attention to is WAB. They are pushing this metric hard. If IU only wins 2 more games but their WAB is low 40s or high 30s then i would be confident they would still get selected. Results based gets you selected while predictive helps your seeding. If IU gets selected their seeding will be higher then people will think if their predictive metrics stay as good as they are.

I keep seeing a need to update that press box but that does not add any revenue. If by update you mean tear it down, increase seating including suites and then have some new press box by default I agree. I wonder if the corporate sponsorships are increasing in a unexpectedly big way. Sure they are going to go up but when we had one, I could not give tickets away. Now, those tickets are in high demand and there are a lot more eyes on your adds so what we paid $250k/yr on in 2020 might be worth triple that if not more. I think there were around 20 other corporate sponsors back then and I would think that number has to be much higher now too.

Even if the NCAA does something this stupid it doesn't mean poop. The CFP is not the NCAA. Two separate entities.

I was doing WAB before the NCAA was (I called it WAR). Basically I calculated the winning percentage of a bubble team against a sampling of teams based on their Pom rating and whether the team was home, road, or away. If you played a team that a bubble team would have a 70% chance of beating, you would get a .3 WAR for a win and a -.7 for a loss. A team that a bubble team has a 30% chance of beating would earn you a .7 for a win and a -.3 for a loss. WAB does the same but their calculations for the percentage a bubble team has beating an opponent uses a different formula.

Translation: It’s what Cignetti does.

Right on. My expectation to call season 1 a "success" was to make the tourney comfortably. Meaning, when Selection Sunday rolls around, we are just watching to find out our seed. Not whether or not we make it. Even if it's an 8 or 9 seed, that's acceptable for season 1. We are currently on track to hit this goal.

IMO, this is a sensationalist headline. The NCAA is flailing because they keep losing in court. When a judge issues an injunction saying a player is eligible, the player is eligible. 2020 when the tourney got cancelled. They were not going to make the tourney that year but lucky for them it got canceled and his consecutive years of making the tourney doesn’t end like it should of

My biggest worry recently has been that they'll try and get Glenn Box from Miami while we stick with a coach who's in the exit lane of her career. Hopefully he's not interested or they look elsewhere.

Unreal! Never, ever would I have believed Indiana would have had a top 3 paid coach in the land. Our stadium seats 60% what the big boys do. Need to generate the revenue in other ways. Incredible! Also, a few years back the idea of paying Brad Stevens 8-10 was equally unimaginable. Hopefully DeVries has the fire and the resources to build something special for basketball here soon.

21 months ago they were in the CBB Championship game and everyone picked IUFB to finish around the bottom two in the conference for the upcoming 2024 season. IUBB just finished like #100 in the NET.
