IU as of Jan 5th 11-3 Net-30 Sos-172 Non con-199 results based metrics average (high 40s /low 50s predictive average- low 20s Q1a (O-2) both away from home Q1b( no games yet) Q2a(O-1) away from home Q2b(2-0) both at home Q3(2-0) 1 home and 1 away from home Next 5 games IU has 2 winnable home games against top 15 NET teams, a winnable road game against a NET 160 team( for reference Minny is 94 and that is a Q2a loss) and 2 road games against title contenders( these are bonus games if you win 1 of those it’s like winning 2 games and if you lose then you won’t get penalized by the NET iu is still on track to make the tourney and make it in comfortably as long as they take advantage of their home games. IU is not going to compete for a top 4 spot in the B1G however they middle 5-8 is very attainable. Listening to national media that tracks with where they thought IU would be this year. Listening to most on here that was where most IU was going to track. Next few weeks will be interesting. If they start losing home games then they will have to steal some on the road. Buckle up

Didn't post in the game thread, but very much enjoyed this game. Some thoughts: Connor Enright is a very, very good basketball player. The kind of player that would be a rotational player on national championship teams (this team won't be). Teams that win invariably have guys like him that aren't featured but contribute to winning. Danny Sprinkle is a terrible P5 basketball coach. Just terrible. Gave off Woodson vibes in scheme; bad shot selection, regularly disconnected on defense. A high talent, big money roster that still doesn't win. And after the game? In his post-game presser, he didn't seem all that bothered by the performance. This felt like a game where Devries won with his roster, and if he had the other guy's roster he would have won too. Either Sisley or Dorn is one of our five best players - in certain situations where matchups allow we may be able to go without both Alexis and Bailey. They are very good long term building blocks and will be featured next year in a major way. This IU team is so good against bad defensive teams, even when they are good offense teams. This IU team is going to continue to be bad against good defensive teams, even if those teams are bad on offense. We could absolutely beat a team like Purdue or Illinois, but a team that defends like MSU is going to be a massive challenge. 11-3 and 2-1 in conference is nice! Would also be nice to build a little cushion by winning at Maryland before things get really real.

Seeing some ND fans coping saying this frees up time for higher upside younger guys. Others saying they wanted him back and when healthy he was at times their most reliable DE. The same logic was being used last year when Coogan left... ND can keep on opting for those younger high upside players over experienced vets, more than content to add a few of their guys every portal window. Like taking candy from a baby.
