  1. It was the best of halves, it was the worst of halves, it was the age of 3-point shooting, it was the age of foolish fouls, it was the epoch of turnovers, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was……….Indiana basketball.

  3. Some of you wonderful people need to chill the hell out. Let’s review: Siena is pretty good. Siena was awful in the first half and we took advantage of it. Siena adjusted but we’re up 22. That is all.

  4. 2 home games with one being against a top 12 NET team and a winnable road game to start out. They will have every opportunity to start out good in the B1G

  6. Was up 26 at half and came out of the half like they were up 26 in the last game before break. They cut it to 15 at some point and then IU stretched it back out to over 20. Gave up 4 garbage points at the end and ended up winning by 21. 8 out of the 10 wins have been by 20 or more points. Lone one being Incarnate Word who IU won by 8. They have done everything you would want them to do to Q3 and Q4 teams and even beat a Q2 team by double digits. IU hasn’t taken advantage of their Q1a opportunities but both of them were away from home. Looking forward to see how the respond in those Q1 home game opportunities

  7. Football is number 1 right now and rightfully so. Once the season is over, I assume bball will get more attention since that is the only major sport being played. With that said, low post scoring is an issue - We virtually have none, which is why we shoot so many threes -- "Live by the 3, die by the 3", will be a good statement for this team. I'm a fan of CDD, but Bailey was a major miss, and I think a lot of Hoosier Nation had the same doubt as the Transfer Season Portal was winding down...Is Bailey really going to be an adequate post player in the Big Ten? We aren't a very balanced roster, and I think we're in for a rude awakening playing the bigger more talented teams in conference, i.e., Michigan, MSU, if our 3 point shots aren't falling. Just a thought...I see some schools signing players to be added to their team for the 2nd semester. Would it be worth looking at grabbing a big man? Just a thought as I see Illinois, USC, BYU etc..all adding to their teams. We don't need a scorer necessarily, just someone who can rebound and won't get pushed around physically.

  8. Not exactly what I wanted to see. Wilkerson looked Great. Conerway had a nice 2nd half. I feel like Dorn Is going to make every 3. More confident in his shot than DeVries now. Enright is a liability despite the few positives he offers. Our bigs are just inadequate including against like mid major types. Sisley seems to have fallen out of favor after demonstrating the inability to make a free throw. Gotta play Dorn, DeVries, Wilkerson, Conerway a LOT imo and space the floor. Shoot 3s and pray. The long stretch with no games really stinks. Will begin having withdrawals right around the time the football team is ready to take the field.

  14. They haven’t played with good effort in the 2nd half in a few games, but we’ve also seen them come out of half time with good adjustments and play strong. Don’t see any real reason for concern at this point, it seems more like people look for reasons to be upset when we’re comfortably winning and shooting 38% from deep.

  16. IU finished it non conference part of the schedule last night and will enter January 10-3(1-1). They missed out on 2 Q1a games away from home and a winnable Q2 road game. Moving forward they will have plenty of Q1 and Q2 opportunities at home and away. IUs predictive metrics are solid. Average around the 20s. Ius results based metrics are lower around the mid 50’s. Sos- 175 Non con-173 for an at-large team those are respectable numbers. If your non con sos is in the high 200’s or 300 then that could become a problem. IU didn’t do anything to hurt their resume however they didn’t do much to improve their resume either. They did get a win away from home which always helps( at large team usually needs 4 wins away from home to feel safe). They also didn’t earn any Q1 wins up until this point. Good news is that they play in the B1G and will have chances to get multiple Q1 wins. If you were expecting IU to compete with the upper level teams for a B1G title this year then in my opinion you are going to be disappointed. They don’t have the roster this year for that. In my opinion Sparty, Michigan, Purdue and Illinois are a step above the rest this year (Maybe Nebraska but I can’t go that far). IU has 6 games against the top 4 (2 home games). That leaves 12 games against the rest of the league which are more winnable games. Not saying they won’t win against those top 4 but those should be looked at as bonus games. Ius most important games will be against the other teams fighting for an at-large outside the top 4. IU gets Nebraska and Iowa at home and do not have away games against those 2. Those 2 games are probably the most important games on IUs schedule for now. Most on here and nationally said IU making the tourney would be a good start for Devries in his first year. That’s easily still on the table. Reminder even teams that are tourney locks (8-11 seed) always have flaws. 8 seeds are considered teams that are comfortably in the field and not on the bubble however if you look at some 8 seeds resume you are good to see a lot of red (losses). Are losses coming to IU? Yep but in my opinion some wins will be coming as well biggest surprise of the year so far for me IUs KenPom offensive efficiency-56 IUs KenPom defensive efficiency-16

  17. It seems like Bryant was at IU 15 years ago but he is still only 28 years old. At the end of this year he will have earned $37,443,000 in the NBA. Not shabby for a 28 year old.

  18. Had seen this reported previously but now coming from Talia Goodman, lends it credence. Australian women’s basketball commits Callie Hinder (Arizona) and Zoe Jackson (Indiana) are both joining their respective teams this semester, but both plan to redshirt the season, sources confirmed to On3.

  19. At the end of the day I'd call getting Brohm a win if I was a UM fan.

  20. It's making things messy. Plus they don't have a President either, and it sounds like they may not have that person appointed until mid-2026. That's another key person the new coach won't have clarity on. UM is a good job with a lot of resources, but the uncertainty with the President and/or AD is an issue. Also, there is just something a little off about UM football. I can't really explain, just a sense. Several coaches have struggled there. Hoke and Rich Rod are two that got fired. And Sherrone's on-field performance wasn't good, he was probably gonna get fired for performance after next year or so. So that's three coaches that didn't do well there, that doesn't indicate UM is an easy job. As for Jim, it took him six years to get it going, and once he did, they did win big, but they also got in a lot of trouble that cost UM $30M+. I'm just not sure it's an easy place to win for whatever reason. That said, this is all good with me!

  21. Brohm is next in man up according to Michigan Insiders. If they don't land Brohm, you really got to question if Michigan is an attractive job at the moment with all the issues going on.

  29. Couple of comments from today's Zoom presser. Curt Cignetti says emphasis for Indiana "was on the '27 team, retention and needs" before IU knew its Rose Bowl opponent. Hoosiers are in Alabama prep now, but he's got a firm idea of what the majority of his contributors' long-term intentions are. Curt Cignetti on handling 3 weeks off before playing Alabama: "Before we knew our opponent, we treated it like two bye weeks. And now we have almost two weeks to prepare for the opponent. "Would I like to play earlier? Yeah, I would, to be honest with you." Curt Cignetti on filling Stephen Daley's role at edge rusher: "We'll find the best solution that gives us the best chance to be successful." Curt Cignetti -- with a smirk -- on what IU will do to replace Stephen Daley's production on defense: "You'll see what we decide to do when we play the game, right?" Curt Cignetti on new deals for Bryant Haines, Mike Shanahan: "Bryant had some calls, had some people very interested in him... We also wanted to lock Mike up, who is very deserving. Very glad we did. As the season goes on, we'll work on locking up the rest of the staff."

    College Bball Thread

Checking in on our old pal Chris Beard: He got a new contract and another resource bump for this season. Top five NIL in the SEC now per CBS. But so far this year Ole Miss is 7-5 and around #60 in KenPom (started #24). Also, looking at his previous six seasons since that title game run, he hasn't done much, just one game over .500 in conference and a few tourney wins. Maybe he turns it around this year, but this isn't a great start for a guy given even more hefty resources than he had. Not too good. Perhaps he wasn't a miss in our last hiring process.

  35. @ronzo4IU more on the status of Josh Harris. His return was discussed this afternoon on 247 and the gist of the response regarding his return was January is a possibility. To me, that wasn't a ringing endorsement and I would continue to recommend you not hold your breath.

  36. This is the spot on analysis of where we are right now, thanks. Notwithstanding the negative noise especially following the UK game, the team is in good position to win and move up starting with the B1G. Now we'll see how they play against conference talent at home and going forward.
