  1. He is a very tall skinny lengthy player. Has a huge wingspan and is a dominating presence on defense. He's probably 6"10 or 6"11. He has never really shown an offensive game but Bosse just graduated three 1000 point scorers so he didn't really have to do much. Time will tell if he can play on the offensive end, but his presence on D is tremendous. Reminds me kind of Jaren Jackson when he was a freshman and sophomore. Not real impressive but he developed tremendously as a junior and senior. So time will tell if kiyron develops the same way. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

  2. Louisville insider Demling from their 247 board removed Ramsey from their Big Board and said he doesn’t think there is any chance he ends up at Louisville. Texas Tech is the leader according to some other scouts. Let’s hope he is impressed with HH. Please leave the other junk out of the recruiting threads. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  7. I think you are correct when you said he is not the type of kid that comes to IU. From what I was told a few weeks ago I was going to be surprised and disappointed if he ended up at IU.

  9. All of those measurables for Stewart are nuts. Scores very high across the board, even compared to the guards. We should recruit that guy.

  10. Is he actually going to Hoosier Hysteria? Hope so, and sees the treatment Romeo gets and falls in love with the environment. I want this kid bad, but he just doesn't seem like the type of kid that comes to IU. But the last time I said that was during Thomas Bryant's recruitment, so you never know.

  11. Well it’s just down right obvious what’s going on here...now that Crean isn’t in town dominating the state of Indiana anymore, Fran thinks he can come in and grab anyone he wants

  14. Yes, I got that from him today and he might or might not have been the person to tell me about the Ramsey recruitment that didn't sound like IU basketball to me. Made me wonder why Archie was going after him.

  17. I understand the thought process but I remember the classic contests between the Knight and Keady teams when both were really good. At the end of the day, I would rather beat them when they are also good. And when both teams each have several in state kids, it's even better.

  23. I'm actually OK with him at Purdue. And, yes, he'll probably be a pain to the Hoosiers. But he is close to his family, and without knowing the details, that's probably the most important thing. We can't take everyone and I trust CAM to be the difference maker when it counts. I hope things work out for Newman and he realizes his dreams.

  27. Yep, they just need to add some freakishly large dork to play Center (and spread social diseases) and you have the quintessential Purdue class. Very solid, some skills.....but just not good enough to really matter.

  32. Fair to draw conclusions based on the other schools that were recruiting him? (I am thinking about Miami and Louisville in particular. And Tech under Beard is too early to tell, but wouldn't be shocking)

  33. I'd call this CB pick as much good news as bad. Duke was presumed favorite for months, and the insider doesn't think he's going there. Also didn't pick Villanova, who was supposed to be the flavor of the month. I'd prefer we're up against just MSU at this point.

  35. So what's the word on the kid Kiyron Powell down in Evansville? See he just picked up an offer from Xavier. Haven't heard anything about him before that offer. Is he one of those to keep an eye out for down the road. Alot of those bigs seem to develop a little later than some.

  37. I'm fine with not getting him, and if it works out for the best with his family situation then that's good for him. In general though I'd rather Purdue get stuck with crummy recruits and be at the bottom of the Big 10.

  42. Definitely not Newman over Ramsey for me. Speaking of which, lets get Ramsey to guard Newman. Newman won't be able to breathe. This is the type of class that makes Purdue fans cocky. To them it's a Homerun. It's certainly a solid class, but we are also certainly aiming much higher. Let's compare notes in 2 months. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

    IU Baseball Commits

I was talking to a returning position player a few weeks ago and had a pretty interesting conversation. It's probably not worth starting a new topic, but thought I'd share a bit for those following IU baseball. Trying to recall what he told me, but the main points were Mercer's coaching philosophy is more of a "professional baseball" approach that Lemonis. He said that there isn't much emphasis on bunting and "small ball" in general. Essentially, from what I gathered, hitters are looking to drive the ball regardless of count and situation (with some exceptions, I'm sure). Overall, there's a lot more BP, weight lifting, and emphasis on nutrition and conditioning. He said that team chemistry is good right now and that the new coaching staff has been well received by the players. Of course, it's hard to keep everybody happy during the season, so I'm sure some things will change in that regard. But, it sounds like so far, so good from his standpoint.

  44. Definitely true. At the same time it would be nice to take care of home and start dropping the moral victories. If we carry momentum over we should be 4-0 then 5-0 before the gauntlet. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  46. IUWS opened its B1G season with a 3-2 win in the 2nd OT against Michigan. Women opened the B1G season at home against Michigan and gave up 2 first half goals and trailed 2-0 at the half. The first Michigan goal coming just 27 seconds into the game. Score stayed at 2-0 until 85'24" when Abby Allen scored on assists from Melanie Forbes and Caroline Dreher. Then at 87'42" the women tied it up on a goal from Claudia Day on an assist from Caroline Dreher off a corner kick and we went to OT tied at 2, followed by a second OT. At 107'09 they win it on a goal from Chandra Davidson. Great way to start the B1G season. Women are at home again on Sunday afternoon hosting Michigan State at 1:00 ET.
