Need to get a few recruiting sharks. Also our talent evaluation needs to be improved SO much. Although. I suppose having a system in place would help matters. Moikobu seems to be a pretty fast riser. Was with DeVries at Drake and served under mccasland at both north Texas and Texas tech. Also served as Director of Recruiting under Bryce Drew at Grand Canyon. Chris007 1 Quote

What does a system have to do with talent evaluation. You just throw out fishing rods with bags of money and you keep the biggest fish that bite. CSP 1 Quote

I am saying a few of our guys were better players than they looked with Woodson due to system, fit, coaching. I was knocking our talent evaluation while acknowledging there were a multitude of problems. Rice, Banks, maybe Carlyle, Tamar Bates. Some others. But our portal targeting besides the 5 spot was atrocious. Edited March 28 by WayneFleekHoosier CSP 1 Quote
CSP Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Talent evaluation, skill sets that compliment each other are what we sorely missed with the previous staff. And ffs... stop recruiting slow @$$ players. Can't stand it. Thankfully, DDVs one year at WVU should give us relief we will be playing open post moving forward. BGleas, Chris007 and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote

The AAC is probably where his max talent level is u less he wants to be a role player. Quote

Sounds like Barnett is going to get the Oral Roberts job. Olstrom to Minny. So I'm going with Achoki Moikobu from Texas Tech, Drew Adams from Cincy, and I'm not sure who the 3rd will be. Just my own guess, so don't take it for more than that. If an extension has been approved for Murphy it does not appear to me it's been signed yet. Nothing except the raise last year is out. Quote

HoosierFan1994 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 In the Hoosiers Connect interview with Coach, he mentioned he's basically been on the phone non-stop. I have to think Coach Devries knows the following: 1) He has a pretty good idea who his staff will be. 2) He has a decent idea of which players are coming with him from WVU (recruits too). 3) I think he also has an idea of who is out there and who hasn't officially entered the portal yet. go iu bb, Blackmon_for_3, RaceToTheTop and 2 others 5 Quote

Demo Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Murphy always felt like a pretty serious pipe dream given where Bama is and what they’re able to pay. But, hey, if DeVries expressed interest and his guy ended up leverging a raise out it, no harm, no foul. The Moikobu thing fascinates me and I REALLY hope that happens. Check out the guy’s resume: https://texastech.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/achoki--moikobu-/4048 Every school he’s been at has gotten much better immediately. So he’s either: 1) the Forrest Gump of Asst Coaches and just walks into great situations, 2) a guy with a great eye for good coaches, or 3) a really, really great Asst. Pretty sure it’s a combination of 2 and 3. So I’m in big-time on that dude. go iu bb and Blackmon_for_3 2 Quote

I don't see an extension in this article, just the raise. Calls him the "de-facto general manager" at Bama. I'm not sure if this is behind a paywall or not: https://247sports.com/college/alabama/article/new-contract-details-released-for-alabama-football-staff-members-key-basketball-assistant-247833395/#:~:text=Preston Murphy%2C an assistant coach, will pay him %24675%2C000 annually.
