Those numbers also mean this didn’t happen after WVU got left out Sunday. Dolson had this in motion at the very least and this was his guy. I’d imagine Iowa was never a real player until they found out they weren’t. Also, we need a complain about the hire thread for those so inclined. No judgment from me for those that want to complain, but GD the program has been negative for long enough. Let him give us a reason to be negative. This isn’t remotely similar to the Woody hiring. Not necessarily… Dolson very likely said…we did it your way last year, now look where it got us. I need a commitment to make things work and bring anyone in at this point - do I have your commitment ongoing? str8baller 1 Quote

Getting absolutely cooked for this hire. Anybody got a comeback for me? What a kick in the nuts man…. I would say all the big names are too old (Pearl/Few.) The next tier of popular names are drunks and/or major @$$-holes (Beard/Wade.) After that are losers (Collins/Brownell.) DD was not on my very short list, but appears to be a genuine college b-ball coach, which is more than we can say for our last couple of stiffs at IU. After that, I would probably say something exceptionally insulting and inflammatory about the former Ill & Purdue players physical relationship with their mothers. jonz44, JustWinBaby, Deserthoozier and 5 others 4 2 1 1 Quote

Nothing matters until he wins or loses. You love it. I don’t. I’m getting a slew of negative reaction texts from my Indiana peeps. Indiana had a chance to once again prove they mean business and didn’t do it. Wins will build it if he can’t be he’s never had a season to prove he can make Indiana fans happy. Will he recruit the state better than the next guy? Nil only goes so far. Baffling move. Let it ride on gut instincts. Even Dolson’s opening statement is mild. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Not that I disagree that the hire is a little underwhelming, but curious who you would've hired? I think 90% of the names that were mentioned on here were not actual candidates. Top coaches aren't leaving their establish programs anymore even if they aren't at "blueblood" programs. DeVries seems to be cut from the same mold as Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey's of the world. I think he can be successful here taco corp, PartyintheVillas and moyemayhem 3 Quote

JPCIVOP Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Not to be a party pooper. Woodson's offense scored 112.4 pp/100 this year. The offense drives people crazy. Everyone's expecting things to get much better. I hope they do. DeVries has coached 7 seasons. 6 at a much lower level of competition. Only one of his offenses has been better than this year's IU offense. Not trying to be negative. There's a LOT of growth necessary. thebigweave, Muskie plays the four, FightFor6 and 4 others 7 Quote

Magnanimous Posted March 19 Posted March 19 31 minutes ago, wirenuts said: Sorry for the off-topic mods....but long story short, around the time devries was mentioned and even a little before that, magnanimous introduced a magnanimous story about how a booster or insider had told him that there was a huge candidate, without names. Or maybe the insider or booster told him that it was a big name but not stevens but that the coach had the first name starting with b and last name starting with m. Come to find out, he was maybe/possibly making it all up. Magnanimous please correct me if I'm wrong Edit: the insider/booster gave him a main "big wink" as confirmation for a really huge name as future coach The Big Wink It was a dark, humid night in western Florida. Magnanimous arrived at the airport in typical fashion. He carried on, no need for luggage where he was going. It had been a long weekend, the kind you don’t tell your mother about. The kind of nights that fly by but stay with you a while. His phone buzzed. Flight has been delayed. Damn, now what was he going to do? Kill some time he supposed. He made his way to the Florida Breeze, a regular joint for regular fellas. Barkeep passed him a shandy to kill the time. Not a dame in sight. His phone buzzed again. Another delay? Not this time. Just three words and an emoji that would make your spine chill on the warmest nights. “We got him ;)” said the source, listed in his contacts as Mr. Wink. We got him. He paused for a moment. Did this actually mean what he was hoping for? Mr. Wink knew what kind of information Magnanimous was waiting on. So he responded with “Brad or Ben?” A delay…buzz…”;)” Another pause. “So which one?”…”You’ll be happy either way, but I’m hearing it’s B”… “B? Who the hell is B?” Nothing. He asked again. Nothing still. Not delivered. Mr. Wink’s phone died after writing B. But B was enough because he knew what this meant. Indiana had got him. And whether it was Brad or Ben, BTownBanners needed to be told. So Magnanimous lived up to his username and flaunted his intel in front of everyone for three full days… sirhoosierlot, Str8Hoosiers, Muskie plays the four and 2 others 1 4 Quote

The good news is that he has had some years where his offense out paces his D. So he’s not a one trick pony on just one side of the ball. FWIW, kenpom adjusts for opponent and when done that way his offense wasn’t bad last year. You’re hoping here that the increase in talent equally lifts the efficiency on both sides of the ball.
