Great now MSU has a definite number they know they need to beat.

Mat Ishbia is probably on speed dial.

Seems pretty clear he always preferred MSU and we were just a bargaining chip.  Not sure what else DeVries could've done other than throw a crazy number like $6M at him.

Have we already written him off?

Not worried.  I'm sure DDV has a couple Reed Baileys in the pipeline.

I hope that is sarcasm. But somehow, I'm not sure.

Some doomers have.  Now, I do agree odds go down significantly with him visiting MSU.  But I dont think it's completley over if he leaves without commiting.

I would give him some sort of deadline if I am DeVries though, can't wait too long for an answer.

In portal land everyone says it’s better to have the first visit.   If MSU would of gotten the first visit most would of viewed that as a bad thing

That’d so you can throw a good offer and sign them immediately though, correct? Like Lville did

Since they are quick recruitments the reasoning is get them on campus as fast as possible and make your pitch.   Personally I still don’t think it matters one way or the other but many do.   Houston got the first crack at Burton and offered him a bag but he chose to see what both schools had to offer.   Houston didn’t wait around and went to their next target but they wanted him to commit before he went to IU

 No but we need to pursue others in a timely manner

I think you move to plan B/C/D while he's visiting MSU so you are not behind the 8 ball if he chooses them.  Most of what i have seen on X is that if MSU comes close he will choose them.  Could just be chatter though won't know until we know.

It's more like this:

If they visit us first, they're just using us to leverage more money from someone else;

If they go somewhere else first, we weren't appealing enough to get the first visit and they'll probably commit to that team on their visit.

Someone said Izzo is reluctant to pay the asking price because it might create drama with Fears and Carr because it would be more than they're getting.

Doubt that’s true but if it is he might as well cancel the visit because in the current bigs market Sherrell might get as much as the 2 of them combined.
