BBTB Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Tried to catch up ,but if I missed this please forgive ,but this April 7 date that is being mentioned ,wouldn't the players want to sign before this date? I think I read that those who sign before the 7th can get whatever is offered to them ,if they do it after then it has to go through a fair market value thing . Quote

In a year or 2, it will be up to $20 to 30 mil. They don't want to do it, but the athletes will have to be signed as employees with a contract at some point. I can't see boosters keeping this up. Not after the last two days in the stock market. :) Quote

June 30th is the last day teams can pay out player using money from collectives. So the money will be frontloaded likely before the new "rules" kick in. In terms of the April 7th date, that is when the settlement could be finalized from the courts. Nothing should change though. BBTB 1 Quote

Geography wins out in most these recruiting battles unless you are Duke, Kansas, North Carolina or Kentucky Woodson pulled two guys off the west coast and a kid out of Arizona. Can’t be that hard if Woody can do it. I get the family reasons with Dix but there shouldn’t be any excuses for other kids. Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Really need some positive momentum because it feels like we’re meandering aimlessly right now - three players on the team, no GM, staff isn’t complete, we’re being outbid, his WVU guys (other than his son) don’t seem like they want to follow him. With all the talk about how great our NIL is, we aren’t making any noise at all. It’s still earlier and ultimately we won’t know how we did until the season gets here, but I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by DD’s first few weeks. Deserthoozier, pumpfake, BBTB and 1 other 4 Quote

It's another person to manage from Darian's eyes as the CEO. Frankly, Darian and whoever is on the staff currently can hold down the fort in the meantime. lillurk, jermhoosierfan, Juwan Moye and 1 other 3 1 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Leland Walker back in the portal. IU had interest last time around. That said, while he's decent defensively and a pass first point guard, his scoring took a plunge last year at FAU. lillurk 1 Quote

Saw a post on another site that Louisville for example didn’t fill their roster until middle to end of April last year. They had a total rebuild like us. It’s hard but people just need to relax a little. thebigweave, Scotty R, hoosierbannerd and 1 other 3 1 Quote
jermhoosierfan Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I look at the Portal Opening kinda like NFL free agency. Some of the big names come off first with the big bucks, but a few days after the opening is where teams get the majority of the players that can make up the team. This year, we need all but 2 players which takes a lot of time, but I expect next year to just a third of the team to a half the team is needed. A lot depends on the freshmen coming in and how many seniors that the team will have. We just need 3 more for the starting 5 if Goode gets his extra year (which would be awesome), and the rest is the bench or fighting for one of those starting spots. There are more than 2k players in the portal, and it takes time for a new staff to sift through all of that. I am not worried. Now if we get to May, and we only have 4 or 5 players, I might give a side eye. We actually have a coach needing to set up his "base" to build everything on, and I believe he will get who he needs. I have patience with him. Soulsnipes and thebigweave 2 Quote
Soulsnipes Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Give me 2 weeks to see what we get out of it after all the due diligence is done. I gotta give him time to build what he see's. In the end, I have ultimate faith that he will put a winning team together, especially when the whole staff is together. Quote

I’m trying to stay patient but from the outside looking in it doesn’t look like we’re firing on all cylinders right now. Chris007 and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
