If we are missing two of our best players like WVU last year, I don't think fans will be mad at it. No one will be happy with a 19-13 record next year, as evidenced by the reaction to this past year’s…. 19-13 record. Fans want to win, win big, and do it now. People don’t have the stomach for a rebuild. Sure, there’s time to land players, But what are we waiting for with the assistant coaches? We’re trying to win recruiting battles against schools running on all cylinders when we have half a staff, and it’s not working out great right now. Deserthoozier, Eagle’s Rug and Scotty R 1 2 Quote

With all the talk about how great our NIL is, we aren’t making any noise at all. It’s still earlier and ultimately we won’t know how we did until the season gets here, but I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by DD’s first few weeks. He was hired on March 18. As of today, that's been two weeks and three days. Why don't we wait until he's been here a few weeks to judge his first few weeks? Scotty R, Juwan Moye, thebigweave and 3 others 4 1 1 Quote

All team have some sort of injury or setback. WV was cruising early on in the season, knocking off some top 5 teams, then a couple injuries to 2 key players (DeVries and Tenner)changed their trajectory dramatically! .....I found this clip pretty telling from an article in January of this year. Small’s responsibilities, and frankly, his expectations, rose drastically over the last month. It started with the announcement that Tucker DeVries would be out indefinitely due to injury in early December. More recently, freshman reserve point guard KJ Tenner joined Tucker DeVries on the sidelines after he left in the middle of WVU’s win over Oklahoma State with an injury of his own. Tucker DeVries and Tenner are arguably WVU’s top-two ballhandlers after Small. 8bucks and DSUMMITT 2 Quote

I’m guessing most fans wouldn’t be upset with beating Zags and Arizona on a neutral court and Kansas on the road and Iowa st at home. Last time those fans watched IU played Arizona, Zags and Kansas on the road they saw their team down 20 in the first half in all those games Scotty R, HoosierInParadise, Hoosier Roots and 12 others 15 Quote

Didn’t woody just over pay for a bunch of mercenaries that were only here for money and didn’t really produce results they posters on here wanted? DeVries seems to me like he actually has a long term plan and isn’t just going to throw out money because he has it. All those guys committed to IU in Mid April. Still got loads of time Again, I’m not worried about time or CDD. I’m just pushing back on the implication that IU should be looking regionally if guys don’t go far from home. Woody was, as you point out, a disinterested recruiter. So the fact he was able to get guys to IU from all over the country makes me think CDD can do the same. The fact that those kids didn’t do well here is more about Woodys coaching, imo. The year before he pulled in Ware off the west coast did well enough to be a first round draft pick. Quote

Scotty R Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Maybe we need to realize that kids today doesn't look at IU like we do. These kids have only seen IU as a mediocre program that doesn't make the tournament very often. They also see the fans still having the same expectations like it was 1987 instead of actually where the program is. thebigweave, Pagoda and cybergates 1 1 1 Quote

I Never said that lu should just look regionally all I said was historically geography wins out in these types of recruitments that doesn’t involve the big names. Slater the crystal ball king back in the day always said he starts every recruitment out with which teams are close to the recruit and majority of the time if it doesn’t involve the big names he always goes with the home teams Quote
