No!!! With all due respect, Louisville and Michigan all were coming off awful seasons and had an immediate turnaround to relevancy. Even Kentucky had a coaching change and roster turnover and was a 3 seed. All of their rosters turned over. CDD and staff expectations with the portal and NIL should be for next season. No time for a long rebuild!

Would expect dix to be heading to Illinois. Not money related i do believe iu was at least matching other schools if not more, so not sure what the driving force is, but its portal anything can happen

Was told late last night that IU was trying to up their offer to get him to pick IU but NIL is not the factor. Being closer to home where his mother is very sick may have won it over in the end.

Louisville pitch.  You have last year as proof of how you will play in your last year of college and who is on the roster currently.    Got a stud guard coming in and another stud portal guard.   We are going to shoot a ton of threes regardless.  You will get your shots and we have a lot of money.  

Have a feeling this is going to be the case with a decent number of top transfer prospects. Money won’t be enough to compensate for the unknown. It’s not as much of an advantage for us as even last year. After he shows his system here can win, he’ll have momentum to add some star power. He showed at WVU he doesn’t need a bunch of studs to win. We should be able to get a better roster than WVU even if it doesn’t include Conwell or Dix

Fair, besides it hasn't been fine for 30 plus years.  But yeah, too many unknowns.  We've got cash and a lot of roster spots.  We will field a team.  Seems fair to worry like many of the coaches before him, we don't carry a recruiting edge besides money and we don't even have that edge for everyone, that this job is obviously a tough sell.  Every coach wanted the "elite" blue blood status but we just aren't that.  Gonna have to blue collar this thing all the way back I'm afraid.

If it's not money, then it's likely the coach that players aren't interested in...thrown in with some of the IU dysfunction from recent years...

If close to mom wins out, I would expect Creighton and not IL then.

Yeah just not true. There are so many other factors that can be in play before you start throwing your new coach under the bus

But so far the early returns are in and there doesn’t seem to be any excuses for good coaches at elite programs needing time. Everyone starts over and recruits their whole roster every year.
 

Woody did it last year and we put expectations of top of the conf and S16 on him. Why would CDDs expectations be lower than Mike freaking Woodson?? That’s crazy to me. 

Everybody points to Dusty at UM and how he built his roster in one year which is true. The thing is that he didn't get his first commit until mid April and it didn't hurt their season. Also how many of the transfers at IL were considered a 5 star portal player. This fan base can be great but it is also very exhausting.

I don't know the answer to that, but I will say I'm hearing less info right now with DDV than with previous coaches. That might be because he doesn't have a full staff, or it might be that he just keeps things quiet.

I mostly put it on the IU dysfunction...but you can't rule out that maybe CDD isn't appealing to some of these top portal guys...

More factors pushing him away from Creighton. Its a two horse race, ILL and IU

I mean sure it is a possibility but saying if its not money then its the coach just isn't realistic.

DDv had the sixth ranked transfer class last year at WVU. That needs to be replicated this cycle given the money we have
