It's just a 30 day window to announce, not to commit to a new program.

There is also thought in some quarters that schools are going to be more stealth in the portal to avoiding publicizing their interest in players, to help with NIL negotiation.

Like no one ever saw this coming.  All it takes is 1 coach to give in for the kid to get that big pay day.

Kevin Willard is being a bit sensationalist.  

The money is exploding mostly because the rev share is starting this year.  This will add $2-6M to player payroll depending on the school, which is about 66% to 100% increase in player payroll over last year depending on the school.  Therefore, players are asking for a lot more this year.

NIL has basically no guardrails or rules, fair enough.  Though pre-NIL was to some extent too if you think about all the under the table payments.

However, the rev share does have guardrails and rules.  It's capped.  Players will sign real contracts with universities to play sports for the first time ever (keep in mind NIL contracts could not include anything about playing, which is dumb but true).

What's happening seems pretty understandable.  I don't think players or agents are any more wild than they were last year.  It's just the rev share starting.

It's still 6 days until April 1st. No way this guy is accurate. In the comments he does say maybe over 2 years. That account has a whopping 295 followers.

If they are going from Bruce Thornton to Gabe Cupps? That is no bueno. And I think that Cupps can be a decent college player.

Same guy followed that tweet up by saying he first heard it was $350,000 and then heard it was much more.  Have to say he has no clue what Cupps will be receiving.

The 30 days is just for the kids to put their name in the portal,  they can sign with a team anytime

NIL money is crazy to me. A guy like Cupps, imo, is worth a scholarship and maybe some meal vouchers in the Big 10. Hundreds of thousands for a player of his caliber is wild. But I guess that’s where we’re headed with the amount of money going into NIL.

Is the prevailing assumption that McKneely is in play? I saw the outreach on Adragna's tracker. I don't know how the defense shakes out, but McKneely/Devries/Goode on the wings would drive teams nuts.
