We all need to be careful because it wouldn’t surprise me if BP could be using it as a bargaining chip.  Trust me, I would love BP as our coach and he or someone like him is who we exactly need but this administration has already gotten burned before on just this same issue

It's true and just like in real life, the VP doesn't really get to do anything. Plus that Dang Stu will live to be 130 so my chance of moving up is slim

It's an interesting point, so I'll divert briefly from the thread to explain:

Personally? I love when posters run counter-narrative. As long as they do not mind push back when they run counter-narrative. LCS is the ultimate "counter-narrative but doesn't take pushback personally" poster. 

So when things are good and someone points out the flaws, or when Woody is on the ropes and someone points out that he might turn things around? Good for discussion, as long as that point isn't accompanied by condescension.

Just remember, Woody always points the finger at himself. He totally didn't say Malik Reneau was awful like two games ago in post game conference.

Pearl is very intriguing but but in an ideal world he wouldn’t be turning 64 in a couple of weeks. Also, is he insistent on his son eventually taking over for him (ie, putting it in writing)? I doubt it’s to that extent but, if it is, I’d say “hell no” to that request.

I’m pretty torn on Pearl. There is no doubt he’s a winner and we’d be great. But probably only for a few years until he’s 70 and ready to retire. We are dying for stability. I wish we could CGI De-age him a couple years like Harrison Ford.

So far my top three would be  1. Pearl 2. Oats 3. May  

Pearl just knows Ball and he can at least give us the correct perspective of what it takes to build and maintain a program. Plus if you think about it there is some upside. He would now work for blue blood program for his first time (at least I think we can be again). He has the southern recruit scene covered and with the Midwest ground that could give  us a chance for a final four run in a six year window.  Age is just a number for me but context matters. I was negative about Woodson but I wouldn’t be for Pearl. Pearl loves the entirety of college basketball. 

Oats is a younger version of Pearl and May, with a proper defensive assistant coach, can work as well. May at least has humility and doesn’t mind readjusting.

I'd rather have 6 or so years of Pearl righting the ship than Woodson steering into the iceberg.

Understanding the kind of person Pearl is, I don't think he'd wish the Indiana job for a first time head coach on even his worst enemies, let alone his son. I think taking the Indiana job is in large part to pave the way for his son taking over at Auburn.

No way IU would agree to that. I think the direction we would like to head in a perfect world is Pearl till he retires and then Dusty
