I've been hiding this season because it's depressing to see our proud program in its current state. To be frank, I'm just tired of seeing this program underachieve while so many other programs have it figured out.

Like all of you, I'm ready for a change. I was hopeful for one last year. That being said, I do sometimes still hold out hope that they will make the tournament this year. But then I ask myself why? Squeak into the tournament and then get embarrassed on national TV (i.e. St Marys, Miami).

If our 11 conference wins are...

Minnesota(sucks)

Rutgers(sucks)

At Penn State(non NCAA tourney team, not as good as thought to be)

USC(not good)

At Ohio State(won't make the tourney likely, not as good as thought to be)

at Northwestern(non tourney team)

Maryland(meh, super bubble, hard to say if they'll make the tourney or not)

UCLA(tourney team? Maybe? Maybe not?)

Penn State

At Washington (terrible)

Ohio State

Yea I don't see those 11 conference wins getting you in. I don't care about what quad wins you have, committee looks at that subjectively enough to know, that isn't a good resume attached to a resume with zero accomplishments in the non conference outside of getting blown out. So I think they have to win 12+ and 1 or more has to be stealing a win over Purdue, Wisconsin or Michigan State.

Minnesota- beat Michigan

PSU- beat Purdue

UCLA beat Oregon

USC beat Illinois

The conference has no excellent team but anyone can win a game against anyone else.

Interesting to see how the selection committee looks at this

I mean, the athletic director wanting to move on but not being able to doesn’t inspire confidence.

Yeah he is. Pam is ready to move on this time. It’s not just his basketball results this time. There have been other things that the administration is tired of.
Would not be his arrogance and blowing off the women's team?

Seriously?  Based off what happened to Fife from Woodson, I didn’t think he would step back on campus again as long as Woodson was the coach!  Wait a minute!
I find it kind of weird with all that is going on that he would be back in the hall.

And it may happen. But the same smoke was there last year. Some were saying it was basically done. Until it wasn’t. I just find it hard to imagine IU wouldn’t fire him last year but at 5-4 if we lose Wednesday that’s it for him. I hope so. But tea leaves mean jack **** at this point.

It will be interesting to see which king shows up Wednesday..I wonder if he drained all his energy at ohio state. Kind of seemed like that was his super bowl game.

I swear, I think some of you are secretly hoping he'll get a 5th year just so you can keep up your moaning and groaning and woe is us.  HE'S GONE!   I still think it happens before our next home game but if it doesn't, definitely after we've played our last game of the season.

I can’t think of one poster on this entire forum that wants him back.

Not me.  His behavior during his coaching tenure far exceeds whatever he did as a player long before I was alive.  Same with Buckner.  They're villains in my IU fandom story.  I have no other memories of them.

I get it. We are in completely different generations and we have experienced very different periods of IU basketball. You are entitled to your viewpoint and from your perspective it's completely valid. I think we all want to see a better version of IU basketball than we have seen in a really long time. I just think it is important to recognize that in this fan base different people have seen wildly different results from this program over the years. Harry Gonso and Quinn Buckner were heroes when I was younger and deeply invested in IU athletics. It was awesome hearing the IU band play "The Mighty Quinn" before or during IU games. For some of us old guys those were great times, and no matter what is going on now, what they accomplished will always be important. End of the day, we all want what is best for IU basketball.

No way did they talk to the staff about an interim plan.  These kind of changes don't happen like that.  Even if Dolson tried, the assistants would say: "Mike is the coach and we are 100% behind him.  We are not having his conversation."  Then they would walk out.  Now, once he's let go, then it's every many for himself -- trying to keep their job and angling for the next one.

I would say no way did Dolson expose “The Plan” with the assistants or he is a complete moron.

in no way does that happen without an immediate move. If that happened and an immediate move wasn’t made that is child’s play. Never in my career have I seen something like that. You don’t let subordinates know a boss is being let go unless you do it a minute after informing them.

I mean, it is IU we're talking about here. So all bets are probably off.

But the more I think about it, the more it's reminding me of all the "soft landing" talk when Crean was here. All this talk about how people behind the scenes were trying to help him get a job lined up so he could resign and transition to his next gig. Not only was he fired, but he didn't coach for a year, so it was likely just a bunch of fabricated garbage.

Exactly.  It's absurd to think Dolson had any communication with the staff about an interim plan.  He may have talked with Whitten and some others in the AD department, but it's strickly a "what if" conversation.

There was a bunch of buzz about some Mgbako emails online on Friday but then it went away pretty quick I assumed that was just him liking the fire Woodson instagram post

Liking an Instagram post, whether appropriate or not, is not emails.

Yeah I just assumed there was some confusion since usually the rumor mill would be running wild if something was out there about a player sending crazy emails

11-9 would give them a 2 seed in the NIT at best.

Simply put….that’s not true.  Too many guys are stuck not realizing what a resume looks like for the 10 and 11 seed teams in the tournament.  An 11-9 finish would give IU 9 quad 1/2 wins and 20 games against quad 1/2 competition and zero losses below quad 2.  As it stands right now, IU doesn’t have any losses that aren’t quad 1.  While blow out losses are bad, the committee hates Q3/4 losses more.
