Yeah, guys usually don't go from NBA coaching to college unless they get fired. College teams are looking for coaches right about when the NBA playoffs are starting. And in most cases, NBA coaches aren't going to leave for a college job because NBA coaches consider college basketball to be a step down.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Stevens but his decision to leave college for the nba and then his decision to leave coaching for a management role tells me he isn’t sold on being a college coach and we need someone that is all in, 100%, willlijg to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark like Cig

Celtics have assistant GM’s. They are currently for sale as well. Maybe it’s a good time to get out before you get a new boss again.

Might want to take a look at the young up and coming coach at RIU. Got his team off to a great 8-0 start this year.

Chris Beard treating Louisville like the mediocre team they are on their home floor. What a joke. That was an all time type loss from our beloved Hoosiers. SSAH was far from full tonight. The squad might want to get it together and try to flip this season around.

Sold! That’s amazing ball movement, player position awareness,  team connectivity, and willingnesss to work! Seems like we haven’t had a play half this coordinated in 25+ years. The coaching cred jumps out of the TV!!

As much as a part of me would love to have Stevens, he's not as much of a grand slam as he once was. He's been out of coaching, especially college, for a while.

He'd be a far better option than Woodson (dangerously low bar) though. Getting him a GM type role to oversee NIL etc could help him out.

It's a shame -- we have easier transfer rules than UM and more NIL.  He would have fit in very well here too.  He could end up being another big "what if" in the history of IUBB.

He could be coaching here now if he wanted. He could be sailing the pacific in a dingy uploading videos to YouTube if he wanted. 
 

My point being that a sitting GM leaving a team in the middle of a title run would be pretty unprecedented. One would definitely burn a few bridges leaving that way. It’s the type of thing an agent would throw their body in front of, but his wife’s his agent so maybe he doesn’t care.

I agree. I think he would still be a tier 1 hire but maybe not as much of a slam dunk as I once did.  You see so many other successful coaches getting out of the current NIL/recruiting situation I think it’s hard to know how a coach would do in it until they’ve been in it.
