Alright, I'm going to add this stuff to my liquor cabinet. As a bourbon-lover, you guys are making me curious.

Gotta keep those expectations in line though—Can’t expect this to replace your bottle of Eagle Rare or Whistle Pig. Consider it the Pappy Van Winkle of $18 bourbon.

Anyone listen to the Mark Titus podcast? Woody came up this week. They were mainly talking about the Hubert Davis situation at UNC and how it could be really awkward if Roy wasn’t okay with letting him go. They analogized it to IU and said that this is the problem with hiring people from within. Concluded with the fact that if Woody had played his college ball anywhere else he undoubtedly would have been fired after last year.

Yes, massive caveat that I enjoy bourbon but am not a snob or connoisseur by any means. I’ve just had a LOT worse bourbon than that.

It is true that if Woodson had played anywhere else then he would have been fired last year. It's also true that if Woodson had played anywhere else then he wouldn't have been hired in the first place.

But yes, internal politics keeping a bad coach around too long simply because they played at the university were definitely part of the reason I didn't want any former players hired in the first place. Another reason is the coaching acumen of those former players. Then there is the baggage that the best of them (though still far from great himself) has.

UNC will terminate Davis soon.  Watch.

So finally caught up with this thread and when reading all the posts it makes my mind wonder.  I decided to Google "Mike Woodson after a Knick's lost.  I clicked on the below article.

https://www.espn.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/9956861/coach-mike-woodson-rips-new-york-knicks-effort-blowout-loss

The article is from Nov. 10th, 2013.  Below copied and pasted right from the article.  Woody it's been over 11 years and you can't get anyone over the freaking hump so please just give up and quit.

"No. No. Not at all. It's something that will be addressed [in Monday's practice]. It's just unacceptable," the coach said. "It's my job to push them through it and try to get them over the hump. I know we're a better team than what we've shown."

Good find.  He’s got his go to statements.  Here is what he said when he was interviewing for the Knicks head coach job in 2020 (referencing his first stint with the Knicks):

"I did my job when I was here," Woodson said. "We won games.“

No they wouldn't have fired him, because he never even would've been a consideration for the job to begin with.

My drink of choice for the upcoming debacle…..Southern Pecan beer.  FINALLY was able to track it down.  Brewed by Lazy Magnolia out of Atlanta, hard to find anywhere….but turned up at a liquor store about a mile from me.  Uses pecans as a base instead of grain.  Brown ale.

Dead. Wrong.

If Woodson had played elsewhere he'd never be fired... because he'd never have been hired. End. Of. Story.
