I won't comment on whether 11-9 or 10-10 in conference gets us in any tournament.  However, as I have said, the math still works and looking at it further, it is a possibility.  Face it, while the offense/defense schemes are dysfunctional, this team does have talent.  Which means when they want to use it, they can probably beat anybody in the Big10.

"It's hard to win on the road" but they already stole 2 road wins, which is above (admittedly lowered) expectations.  No reason we can't beat NW on the road (we are far superior in talent) and Maryland at home.  Purdue away is an L.  Wisconsin at home is an L -- they have had our number for a while now.  Michigan is beatable at home, but it is a dreaded Sat. morning game -- to me it's a toss up.  I am sure Woodson would like nothing more than to put the kid (and heir apparent) Dusty in his place.  At Mich state is a L.  UCLA is turning out to be meh and Kevin Mick Cronin is melting down.   Should be able to beat them at home.  Purdue at home is a toss up -- but leaning L.  Penn State at home -- already beat them, should be able to squeak one out.  Washington is a bottom feeder, so could pick up another road win.  Lose to Oregon on the road.  Finish up with Ohio State at home -- could definitely win that one.

So we could be 10-8 without Michigan and Ohio State at home.  Split them an we are 11-9.  Realistically we could be anywhere from 9-11 to 12-8.

Sorry, but Woodson isn't going anywhere until the rest of the season plays out.  It's just reality folks.  No jumping off bridges please.  :)

I just don’t see us talking to the staff about an interim plan and then we just not do anything. But I’ve been wrong many times before.

No way did they talk to the staff about an interim plan.  These kind of changes don't happen like that.  Even if Dolson tried, the assistants would say: "Mike is the coach and we are 100% behind him.  We are not having his conversation."  Then they would walk out.  Now, once he's let go, then it's every many for himself -- trying to keep their job and angling for the next one.

With zero non conference wins and really no wins to date outside of 2 "on paper" wins... Yea I don't see it. We've yet to beat a team that'll actually make the NCAA tourney.

If we were to get to 11, there is going to be some quad one wins included.  10 and we are on the bubble.  11 and it’s automatic.

One of those involve some emails?

There was a bunch of buzz about some Mgbako emails online on Friday but then it went away pretty quick I assumed that was just him liking the fire Woodson instagram post

Well I know for a fact that one staff member did say that. I think one staff member said he would move to be an assistant. Then maybe they know who will be the interim.

If our 11 conference wins are...

Minnesota(sucks)

Rutgers(sucks)

At Penn State(non NCAA tourney team, not as good as thought to be)

USC(not good)

At Ohio State(won't make the tourney likely, not as good as thought to be)

at Northwestern(non tourney team)

Maryland(meh, super bubble, hard to say if they'll make the tourney or not)

UCLA(tourney team? Maybe? Maybe not?)

Penn State

At Washington (terrible)

Ohio State

Yea I don't see those 11 conference wins getting you in. I don't care about what quad wins you have, committee looks at that subjectively enough to know, that isn't a good resume attached to a resume with zero accomplishments in the non conference outside of getting blown out. So I think they have to win 12+ and 1 or more has to be stealing a win over Purdue, Wisconsin or Michigan State.

Winning the following games would get IU to 11 conference wins, but I don't think they'd be in the Dance: @ NW, vs. MD, vs. UCLA, vs. PSU, @ Wash, vs. OSU.

I know some of those will technically be Quad 1, but by the end of the year the only plausible NCAA teams we'll have defeated would be UCLA and Maryland. I really don't think that's anywhere close to good enough, absent a run to the B1G tourney finals.

So will a bunch of other teams in the Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC. There are going to be Q1 wins everywhere for those conferences. It's always that way. Problem for the B1G... It's just not a very good conference this year.

Non conference really don’t matter if they get those wins in conference.   Getting non conference wins makes life easier however not required when you play in the second best conference for the year.    Yes the B1G technically is down but with how the committee views things they are the second best.   Providence is a Q2 win(yep I know they are not good).  Not all resume wins have to be against tournament quality.    IU has 0 Q3 losses currently and don’t have anymore on the schedule.   6 more wins in the B1G to get them to 11-9 is going to produce Q1 and Q2 wins.   IU isn’t going to be compared to Auburn or Duke when they are at the bottom of the bubble.    From a bracketologist point of view the resumes of the bottom teams are going to have flaws.    Not saying it’s right but I know how these mostly turn out.    Iu would be in good position at 11-9 with where the B1G teams they still plays NET are currently at.   These teams will beat each other up and since they are all mostly in the top 70s you won’t see many drop much lower then where they are now

Also, while I understand why some want Woodson fired ASAP, IU is currently tied for 5th in the B1G, and just a half game out of 4th. Plus the overall record is 14-5.

I totally get why the record doesn't tell the full story, but it would be VERY out of character to fire a HC (especially one who is a program legend) under those circumstances. And I also don't think the prospect of fans merely chanting to fire him is really as big a deal as some here believe.

My best guess is that Dolson was getting a contingency in place, but at this point it would take a 3 or 4 game losing streak, with a couple more blowouts, to make a move.

A three or four game losing streak with a couple more blowouts likely ends any chance of making the tournament.

Seriously?  Based off what happened to Fife from Woodson, I didn’t think he would step back on campus again as long as Woodson was the coach!  Wait a minute!

That would be the most awesome "in your face" possible to fire Woodson and bring Fife in as interim to finish the season... it would never actually happen... but, man, that would be a sweet move by Dolson.
