LamarCheeks Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 In reading through a couple of the newer pages in this thread, I'm seeing ... I hope Dolson will see this. I hope Dolson will evaluate that. I hope Scott notices the lackluster crowds. Etc, etc., etc. But my question: Is there anything he can do about it? It seemed that with QB having the power of the board behind him, it wasn't necessarily Dolson's decision to make (kinda shows the dysfunction when the AD doesn't seem to have the authority to fire/hire coaches, eh?). Upon doing so, absent a top tier B1G finish and a Sweet 16, or a mid-tier B1G finish and a Final Four, I am confident that this will be Woody's last year as the Indiana Coach. I hate to tell AH but it's clear based on reliable information that baring a crazy run he'll be gone. Trish Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 I didn't watch last night, but It seems like the Big Ten conference is generally down again this year. Fire Mike Woodson!

Compared to the SEC you are correct. As far as national title contenders you are correct however as far as the NET and number of teams that will make the tourney the B1G is in very strong position. 9 teams in the NET top 30 is pretty strong. It yeah IU definitely needs a change in leadership

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted January 9, 2025 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2025 Moving forward I can save everyone a lot of time that will come to this thread to flex on a win or loss. IU has 13 Q1 and 2 Q2 opportunities left. With that many opportunities 1 single loss or win isn’t going to change the fact that they just have to win enough games. They could lose 5 straight but win out and be fine or they could win 5 straight and lose out and not be fine. I don’t see IU playing another Q3 game the rest of year. Reminder the bottom 3 B1G teams don’t make the B1G tourney so no team that plays in it will have to play Minny Jeff Flabjohns, WeeDerkaNaut, Chris007 and 5 others 8

Hornsby Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Nope. In addition to irrelevant comparisons to Archie, there will be quite a bit of "he made the tournament three out of four years how can you fire him???" Many will forget we have one of the most expensive rosters in college basketball. Depressing.Yep. Make the tourney and he did his job even though he had top 5 nil money.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk

I'd push back against the "team is filled with mercenaries who came/stayed for a check" narrative. Basketball is the chosen career of these kids, but many of them; Leal, Galloway, Goode, Hatton came or stayed because they have a special connection with IU. Newton stayed because this staff has stood by him through some extreme adversity. Hell, Dallas James was offered and is at IU for a year not because of NIL, but because he has a chance to advance academically and sit on a P5 bench, all possible because of his dad's connection to Woody; not because of NIL. And yes, someone like Myles Rice or Kanaan Carlyle wanted NIL, but neither of them visited or really considered other schools; they weren't exactly 'open to the highest bidder'. Is NIL a real part of the landscape? For sure. Does IUBB have a lucrative NIL payout that is part of the consideration for our team? Yes. But that is true for many, many places and we are no different, better, nor worse than the landscape in general. WeeDerkaNaut, Chris007, Scotty R and 1 other 4

I think with Scott bringing in tens of millions of extra revenue with the FB success and all the great exposure he got the whole university, he is now at the wheel and not lame duck Quinn. Scott produces results, Quinn doesn’t and he is departing.

But that is true for many, many places and we are no different, better, nor worse than the landscape in general. We have 8 guys who play at least 15 mpg: Ballo, Reneau, Mgbako, Rice, Galloway, Goode, Tucker, and Carylyle. Really only Galloway and Goode fit that bill, and Goode has only been on the team for a few months. Leal plays some too I don’t want to sidetrack the conversation, but I’m just not a fan. Maybe it’s because I’m older now, maybe it’s because I don’t live in Indiana anymore, maybe it’s due to the transfer portal. I don’t know. But I really just don’t feel any connection. It used to feel like these are guys playing for my school. Now it just largely feels like a random group of dudes wearing IU jerseys. 7 of the 13 scholarship players this year are new, and 6 of them are transfers. Before we’d follow these guys in high school recruiting for a year or two before they’d get to campus. Now IU doesn’t really do high school recruiting and then we find out in April who will be on the team the following year. It’s not just an IU problem, but I don’t like it.
