Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 21, 2023 He told IU football fans what they wanted to hear and have been dying to hear for years. No typical I'm honored to be here and we're going to work hard, blah, blah, blah. He told us we're going bowling next season and if you didn't believe him, just Google him because he's a winner. Sure, some people will find that very abrasive and be turned off. That's just human nature. I've been about as pathetic of an IU football fan as you'll find but I believe he can do what he says. I Googled him -- he's a winner. Ryno6284, thebigweave, VO5 and 5 others 7 1 Quote
go iu bb Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 I don't have a problem with it and he actually has me a bit excited about IU football, which is a rare thing. It's great now to hear him talk like that and I won't mind it if he wins. If he doesn't win here, it will quickly become old. VPC, thebigweave, lillurk and 2 others 5 Quote

But normally guys like this don't lose much, that's why they are like this. Taking the IU job is a colossal risk and test for someone of this ilk. Not saying he's going to win championships, but I think we'll see something we haven't seen in a while if ever at IU. It makes for a much more engaged fanbase when you have a coach who's confidence (possibly arrogance) brings some attention to himself and the team. I just don't really see him hitting rock bottom like the coaches before inevitably sank to. Maybe I am just drinking the Cig Kool Aid, but he just seems different than any coach we've had in the past. He seems like the right type of guy for the current climate of CFB. JSHoosier Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 I've liked the things he's said since being hired, confident in his history and abilities and he's won at places that aren't easy to win at. And he learned from good coaches as an assistant. B1G is a big jump for him as a HC though. If anyone can make IU a consistent bowl caliber team, it's probably him. If there's a program he can't win at, unfortunately, it's probably Indiana. iuthruandthru, jepwatso and lillurk 2 1 Quote
cthomas Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 I love that he is process oriented. Is laser focused on getting guys who fit what he wants to do. Being well organized is huge with as many players as there are in football. I'm willing to bet that practices are going to be a whole lot different under CCC. iuthruandthru and lillurk 2 Quote

Colossal risk = equals 0 risk from about $600,000 to $700,000 a year to about $2,500,000 per year plus more incentives for just doing a job hired to be done. That’s 0 risk not colossal. Quote

TTT Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 So can IU football come within 10 points of beating the likes of an 8-4 (4 game losing streak) Air Force team in 2024? Quote

Popular Post cthomas Posted December 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2023 I don't see anyway we are not better, maybe significantly, next year. We now have an organized, process oriented coach with a staff he is familiar with. He is filling holes with players who have been successful already and expect to be successful going forward. I expect disciplined, fundamentally sound football next year. We might lose games because the opponent is just better, but I don't expect to lose games because we beat ourselves.
