Ron Mexico Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 I believe Cig stays. I know IU is again making moves behind the scenes to keep it that way. We should expect an announcement by the athletic department before 10/24 of a juiced-up compensation package for Cignetti & staff, in addition to increased NIL and a fundraising platform for stadium enhancements. HOWEVER, I do not know Cig’s stance on the situation nor am I aware of any discussions with Scott that would pour cold water on the swirling rumors. If the Penn State position is still open at the end of next week with no announcement by IU, I will begin to sweat profusely. BTW, I have no recollection of my old screen name, Mujezinovic007 lol. HoosierMatty Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 He's the best coach in the country. As far as I'm concerned he should be the highest paid in the Big Ten. We got the money we can make it happen. Artie86 1 Quote
moyemayhem Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 For what it’s worth Mike Katic said on Mark Titus’ podcast that Cignetti wouldn’t be going to Penn State. He said Cignetti is a Pittsburgh guy who hates central PA and Penn State, and more importantly his wife loves Bloomington. Also of note is that Titus’ cohost is Brandon Walker who called Cignetti a coward on Saturday’s Barstool pregame show. Needless to say, Katic addressed that as well. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2hi5xXaUEvN4gA6KSUoR8z?si=eyhXl7UKTA2Wb-mbvvZWaA&context=spotify%3Ashow%3A0eJdYO923ory6MIvZpoSVV thebigweave, WayneFleekHoosier, Demo and 1 other 4 Quote

TTT Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 In the future whether some fans will be dead and those that are still alive Indiana should finally have a retired coach with an elite winning record making Indiana an elite football program. Quote

If he didn’t far exceed expectations last year and then go on the road and get our first top 5 win ever, he wouldn’t have gotten the raise. Two way street working in his favor. Saban once extracted a raise when boosters were griping over a regular season loss—just on principle. Life in the big leagues… Quote

Artie86 Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 .....just wondering about this,..... Does Coach Cignetti go out each year and pick up a new stud qb, with intentions to be the starter the next year? Somehow, I don't get the feeling he is going to settle on Alberto potentially competing to be next year's starting qb. I think he gives him chance, but best believe there's a qb with plans on going to the portal with IU in his sights. His approach has been paying off so far.... cthomas, Pagoda and skhoosier2 3 Quote

If Alberto has the arm talent I'd imagine he's our guy, though I've yet to see the necessary arm talent in his brief appearances so far. But the coaches see him every day and are well aware if he can hit the whole route tree. If Alberto can't be the guy then we should have our pick of the litter. But if he can? That's a major cost savings that can be spent in other places. And we're likely to need multiple portal offensive linemen for next year. OliviaPope40, Artie86, skhoosier2 and 3 others 6 Quote
