This is the box score from Wright St’s season opener against Colorado St, and this is one to behold. CSU dropped 60 on them in the 2nd half, shot 63% for the game and had 37 assists on 42 baskets. So, either CSU is the Golden State Warriors or Wright State can’t defend a lick.

Until Thursday. We won't score 40 if we believe this. Lol

So, Wright State is the "Raiders" -- yet its logo is a wolf. 

I suppose a wolf would raid the chicken coop -- or something along those lines? Otherwise, I don't get it ...

Honestly starting the season this way is refreshing in a weird way and could be good for the team. A lot of times we start out just blowing out bad teams and then our first loss where some things get exposed is really tough to handle. This year, the team knows what it needs to work on and we as fans know we aren't world beaters yet and need some patience.

 

I would like to see a blowout *by us* tomorrow though lol

Rowdy Raider hasn’t always been the gray and white wolf we know today. The Wright State mascot has gone through several iterations since the university started playing varsity basketball in 1970.

A 1971 student contest determined that Wright State’s colors would be hunter green and gold and its athletic teams would be called the Raiders. Early renderings of the mascot showed a pirate with a bandana and an eye patch. It wasn’t until 1986 that Rowdy Raider, a Viking with a horned helmet and red beard, emerged as the official mascot (possibly reflecting Cleveland State’s newly adopted mascot, the cartoon character Hägar the Horrible).

However, some felt that the mascot shouldn’t represent a specific gender or cultural heritage. A marketing firm was hired to update Rowdy in 1996 and replace the Viking with an animal that could be considered a raider. The following year the Viking Rowdy was retired. In his place stood a brown wolf in a jersey and sneakers.

The current version of Rowdy Raider was unveiled in 2007. The new wolf is gray, white, and black, and is described as being “fierce” with claws for hands and feet.

In recent years, Rowdy’s talents have gone beyond sporting events to appear at a variety of functions around campus and throughout the community. A social media star, Rowdy has appeared in YouTube videos, Snapchat stories, and photos on Facebook and Instagram. Rowdy even launched a Twitter account—@RowdyWSU—in 2014.

We're only 9.5-point favorites so hopefully we blow them out. They do have a guy who averages 27 a game so he'll probably go for 50 against us. 

I think we need a lovely coed to settle Mgbako head down a little. I've heard he is in his own head pretty good right now trying to figure things out. Now our other freshman guard who is playing well has been described to me by other female athletes on campus as a male *****. But I'm sure he's just enjoying the perks of being an IU basketball player. Those are my two TMZ tidbits for the day.

I will be in attendance tonight if anyone wants to buy beers. Looking forward to some better basketball. Go Hoosiers!!

It is almost impossible to be 18 years old with millions of people watching your every mood, and a campus of 40,000 -- 18-22 year olds trying to get near you. And that's if you're a really good kid.

In context, everyone heard how mature JHS was/is; the way he navigated the attention is just as impressive as how well he played.

They also have Tanner Holden who transferred to Ohio St last year and then transferred back this year.    He was a stud 2 years ago and was one of the hottest transfers everyone wanted.   Didn’t do anything at Ohio St.   if someone goes off for them I expect it to be him.    Lol
