That's about as glass half-empty of a statement that could ever be made about Woodson. He's a mentor to Melo. Go back to the Kansas board! Haha. Ngw7183, MikeRoberts, mamasa and 2 others 2 2 1 Quote

My point is does Mike Woodson have more knowledge on how to motivate and knows what type of work ethic goes into becoming a Melo after spending 4 seasons with him or does Self know with 1 year of 18-19 year old Wiggins what it takes to become what Wiggins has reached? Not to mention Mike had an 11 year career himself. If a player had the same exact NBA career that Mike had they’d probably make over 100 million in todays NBA. He KNOWS what it takes to train and make the NBA but also to have. SUSTAINABLE career. pumpfake and NVFalcons1990 2 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Would be a great get, could be the smoke is true and he ends up at Kansas. Regardless, got to keep plugging ahead because whether or not we have him we have at least spot to fill. Dave from Dayton, lillurk, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

lillurk Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 If the crystal ball/futurecast picks are the only smoke this morning, I wouldn’t worry to much just yet. He may well pick KU but unless it’s Slater, Mack himself, or a Trilly Donovan tip, I don’t know that it means much. Henryville Hoosier, thebigweave, Artie86 and 4 others 6 1 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 FWIW, here is what I have MM projected's stats being using comps from the 2022 recruits. Compared him to the five most similar (not exactly similar obviously) in terms of size, position and rating. Players I compared him to: Whitehead, Duke Jackson, South Carolina Mitchell, Texas Walker, Houston Mitchell, Duke The average totals for the five were 25 minutes/game, 8.2 shots, 44.3% shooting, 2.6 three point shots per game, 36% from three, 2.2 ft, 68.1% ft, 4.7 rebounds, 0.6 blocks, 0.8 steals, 1.4 turnovers, 9.7 points. Using Torvik's projection of 30.8 minutes per game, that would have him averaging: 10 shots per game (44.3% fg), 3.2 three point shots per game (36%), 2.7 ft (68% from the line), 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1 steal, 1.1 blocks, 1.8 turnovers, 11.9 points. As a team, I have IU three points better with MM than without. Quote

The main thing that put IU over the top with Ware was the NIL. Ware was working with the same people as JHS…and JHS was able to confirm that IU delivered what was promised in terms of $. There are plenty of kids getting promised a certain amount and they are not receiving it. Our NIL game is on point for basketball. Out NIL is on point. Obviously so is Kansas'. Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted May 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 10, 2023 Regardless of how this shakes out IU fans should feel good in the direction this staff is going when it comes to recruiting. Before this staff not sure how many in the ring battles there was for out of the state program changing kids. I’ve followed Slater for a long time and he barely mentioned IU or IU wasn’t in many battle that he was a part of. With this staff he has been in town for a game where he thanked the staff for th hospitality. Small things but having a staff wanting to build the right relationships when it comes to big time recruits is a positive. Shows how far out IU actually has been but you have to start somewhere and I feel like IU is making up ground everyday. If the staff keeps building relationships and keep finding themselves in these types of battles they are going to be just fine. They’ve already started winning some of these and other programs are noticing and paying attention. Chris007, Hippopotamo, thebigweave and 19 others 22 Quote
