I don't understand the Arkansas love either. If IU goes to 6 mil a year he will be our coach. No doubt

If Arkansas matches the offer he might stay.

And it says the reports were false.

Yes I know, I called
Myself out for misreading. I’m stuck in the armpit of eastern kentucky for work reading all these updates on here and Twitter on a small @$$ phone while downing beers at the only local sports bar while watching the games. My apologies.

We are a program in the toilet and somehow trending further downward, somehow. We just took one of the games consensus great young coaches, chewed him up, and spit him out. If we were misled into making a coaching change by Stevens, it’s a fatal blow. Dolson would be working from square one with no hot leads. Don’t forget the donors who ponied up the dough to make the transition. This is true and Dolson and the athletic Dept just likely burned up every dime of political capital they had. Just imagine for one second that you were given assurances that a certain guy was coming, if you could meet certain demands, you commit to potentially 8 figures of your money towards said guy, and the athletic Dept delivers Dane ******* Fife...... I’d never take another phone call. Neither would you.

That's not how it works.  These IU donors in most cases earned their money and are smart.  They know about risk, sure things, etc.  I am sure the discussion included the comment "Ok Scott, you say you got Stevens, but what if you don't?  What if he's playing you?  What's plan B?"

I'd put big money on it that he would walk. He wants to big at a big time program.  Arkansas is not close to peak Indiana.

I'm way behind but here you are looking at from another very logical point of view and it appears nobody noticed

I'm sure they've also had their share of negotiations in which everything seemed to be going great to only fail in the end for one reason or another.

Some people need to chill out. Went from I’m not believing anything else that’s rumored on Twitter because of Stevens to all of a sudden believing we signed a paraplegic.

Dolson is obviously doing his homework, we haven’t hired anyone yet let’s all relax and let it play out before we jump off the cliff.

Totally agree. Or a situation saying “I WILL give you “X” amount of dollars if it’s Brad Stevens”. That would still be a donor funding the new hire, but the exchange of funds is dependent on the agreement. It’s not like the donor walked in with ten million in a duffel bag and said bye.

Yes I read the wide of the mark comment interesting. Didn't totally shoot it down. Could have said false or totally inaccurate imo

Ha.
“We” did not chew up Archie and spit him out. He made well over 20mm and delivered a disappointing, historically terrible run. A number of coaches hired when he was, and after, have done better, he never brought his alleged tough minded “brand” to the program, recruiting stalled, his offense was horrific, he had glaring needs but left scholarships open, his players seemingly had little affinity for him, the only players that made it to the tourney did it by transferring to other schools, the year 4 issues were mostly the same as the year 1 issues and he began his tenure by losing at home to Indiana State and ended it by going scoreless for the last 10 minutes of his tenure....a fitting finish. We fired Davis and Crean and they were both much, much more successful than Archie.

He’s a young man, really. What 54? Coaching has been tough on him. He looks at least 10 years older in his face and legs. I wish him the best with his health, but even I knew we shouldn’t be targeting him. His quotes when he departed Ohio State speak volumes. He and JB should continue their passion in basketball, just not as a head coach of a major University.

I'm 55. If he looks 10 years older, I look twice as old as I am.
