If everyone is gonna play the same then it comes down to recruiting.

im a broken record but UCLA’s game has was fun to watch.

Offenses are fun to watch when shots falls but in college basketball that is hard to find sometimes.

I guess we can say Beard watch begins. I think IU hired Sampson about a week and a half after their season ended. Same with Crean. Archie was about a week spot on. If Beard is the guy, we will probably know within the next 7-10 days. If we get to Final Four weekend and this position is vacant I have no clue who it will be. I don't mind Scott Drew but I don't think he gets the job.

I think this week will tell us a lot. It will also tell us a lot about if Indiana is still a good job.

We'll have eliminated Beard, Matta, Woodson by Friday I imagine if we don't have a new coach. Unless of course whoever Scott is waiting on turns us down. Oh boy..

If these guys turn us down it doesn't mean IU job is bad.  it just shows you that coaches are content to stay where they are at and they don't need to go somewhere else to succeed.

The more I think about it, I think Beilein is the fall back guy. I'm still of the opinion that Matta, Woodson, and even Beilein would be our coach right now if they were the top guys.

I have no clue what you pay Beard. I don't think he deserves Coach K or Coach Cal money. That being said, I think it will have to be around 7 mil to get him to IU. May have to suck it up and pay him.

That's for sure plausible, I'll give you that Scott. Nonetheless, it would be disappointing to know coaches don't want Indiana..

Any Chance we could get Mike White?

I have heard his name once. I haven’t researched him but I would look.

I agree. I think John is on the board for sure and perhaps seems the most likely to be the next coach. It wouldn't be a bad hire, he's done great at Michigan recently and was in a national championship a couple years ago.

He wouldn't be our 20 year guy, but as others have mentioned. If you can get Lewis or Fife as the top assistant. Then I'd say this was a good off-season!

I would easily take him over Mike Woodson and Dane Fife. At least he makes the tournament. And they at least win a game when they are there. I just want a coach who will give Indiana a freaking chance...make the tournament and who knows what could happen.

I think Florida fans would help him pack for Bloomington!

He was on my short list last time. He's been linked to the Duke job but he's been a little underwhelming at Florida recently..

So r we all going on the notion that Dolson is wide open with a list of 10+ possibilities or more along the lines of he has a plan that we just don't know?

I think when you see great mid major coaches staying like Few, Byrd at Belmont and McKillop at Davidson it shows happiness is as important as money.  Beard is already in the top 5 in salary so why would he leave. Arkansas as The Wal Mart money behind them to keep Musselman.  Even the smaller schools have big time donors willing to put the money out there to keep their coaches.  I think that was how Wichita St. was able to keep Marshall as ling as they did.

One trend I noticed about Beilein at West Virginia and Michigan...he led them to their best season in decades AND he left the program in much better shape as opposed to when he found it. If he's here five years, hopefully he has a team or two that can make a deep run in the tournament with a chance at a championship, wins a B1G or two, and leaves the program with a good foundation-that's a win.

It's a message board sir, I don't take anything to heart. I love everyone here and appreciate the discussion. I mean how many other teams have multiple message boards for their basketball teams? Outside of this, I don't really discuss the Indiana job with anyone. I hear to many wild names already, I don't need more ;)

No hard feelings, Scott!

It might be more a case of them not NEEDING Indiana, rather than not WANTING Indiana. I think there just a lot of very good programs out there right now.

I fully agree. While Matta has comparable results with final fours and championship games, I feel much better with this choice because it was much more recent.
