DLG3 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Like everyone else, “I’m tired, boss.” I just want the selection to be made and to move on, hopefully for the better. I thought CrimsonCast did a great job of voicing the base’s frustrations as a whole last night. Been an IU fan my whole life, but I’m about at the end of my rope with patience and feel like we get little-to-nothing in return. I want to be optimistic, but dang…the university needs to make amends with a fan base that continuously gets crapped on-by national media, the decisions the admin makes, and even our own coach the past 4 years. So just GET IT RIGHT, SCOTT. OH ALSO, I’m gonna be so unbearable if this hire sucks and Dusty continues to crush it. Never thought I’d be considering moving my loyalty to UM basketball full-time, but I can’t do another 25 years like this. Sorry for rambling. Deserthoozier, FWHoosier84, JPCIVOP and 4 others 6 1

Before him, only five 20 win seasons... 2) In year one at Drake, they had their best season in a decade. In year one at WVU they went from basically a last place team to a respectable team that should have been in the tournament. Had his son been healthy, they very well could have been a top 25 team. He took over a mess at WVU. I'd love to see what he could do at IU. Not that he would be an A+ grand slam hire, but it would be a good hire. If that’s not an A+ hire, what the hell is? Is it just that he’s not famous enough? jonz44, thebigweave, HoosierSadaseci and 10 others 12 1

No one will ever convince me Woody didn’t think he could do well here and be a good coach. I’ll go ahead and assume his intentions were pure. Unfortunately, reality is a cruel mistress. He definitely thought he could. His problem was that he thought his mere presence would make it so and that was about all he was willing to do. jonz44 1

TJD with a message for the “trolls” Still love you TJD I have no issues with an All Time Great Hoosier showing love to a coach that did legit help him start for the Warriors as a rookie. We all know that those tournament runs were a testament to his toughness, leadership, and work ethic. If he wants to share it with Woody, so be it. Not everything Woody did was awful. Ware all said "Woody kept his promises" when asked before the draft about him. sixseis, Paye32, 323SGrant and 14 others 17

Just because a guy is a poor coach doesn't mean he didn't make a connection with a particular player. I would even say he was a good but not great coach. People really bought into the idea that the players hated him. Maybe Chris or JY can shed light on that now that he is gone but from my little bit of inside connection he does seem to connect to people well (other than remembering their names)
Josh Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Two things I'm sure of. I work so much more than you heathens. Devries would be a bad hire. Nooooooooo Adillac, OliviaPope40, Chris007 and 2 others 3 1 1

This is normal, I wouldn’t take too much into the talk. I would be very surprised if DeVries is at West Virginia next season regardless of what his agent may be pushing. Very well could have left Iowa City today wanting the Iowa job but left without signing a contract and is leveraging the IU job to get Iowa to up the ante, but Iowa isn’t going to be able to get into a bidding war, let alone win one. Actually Trevor Andershock was the one who got a couple calls about DeVries. Rabby is just reporting based off that. I do believe this is agent driven but I could see IU making this move so I wouldn’t count it out. Far more believable than the Brownell smoke, which reeked to high heaven.
