So by AD do they mean Scott Dolson, then associate AD Harper, and then the coach and his agent?

I still think this is some out of left field candidate or, this is crazy because I will be shocked if it is him, Stevens.  There is enough cloak and dagger around this to support the latter though.  Wish their timeline to announce aligned with mine...lol.

I myself am trust Scott that he will have a big name hire. He knows his job is on the line iu is back here in 4 years. this is his legacy hire. Whether is stevens or not he has the opportunity you hire a great coach. You know who's available before moving on from Woodson. Obviously woody was gone anyway but you still know who's out there before you do it. I have nothing rn but will return when i do:)

I''m not sure that I've ever bought the "he had to know who his candidate was for sure when he fired Woody" argument.

SHOULD he have have known who he was going after? Absolutely! The only person who didn't know that Woody was going to be gone after this year was Woody, QB, Ferg, and Woody's family. Anyone who has paid attention to the team and Woody's lack of coaching knew that buying him a roster wasn't really going to work and was a last gasp kind of move.

But, with that being said, Woody "retiring" mid-season didn't necessarily mean that Dolson had his man. I've never believed that argument. There were many other factors in play there.

I think she will be a Junior.  Parenting is also considering what is best for the family.  It is not like BS needs any money.

As a divorced parent of 2, I understand the parenting side as far as what’s best for your family. But as my kids got older and ones in college and another will be next year, the decisions or jobs I would talk to changed, etc. If this is something he wants knowing she’s going to be in college in 1-2 years, I think you figure it out. Just sayin’

Zach reporting on the live that Chris Beard likely isn’t a candidate. Threw in Will Wade in that convo as well.

He also said this in passing in his very first video after the Woodson news broke a few weeks ago. Was curious if this might evolve if some other candidates dropped out. Perhaps not.

If this is true, then the coach isn’t currently coaching.

Then an announcement should be very soon if that's the case..

Let’s be honest, if the only Hangul to this was his daughter not wanting to move and he wanted the job it’s pretty easy. He forces her hand which is called parenting or he says fine, we’ll make it work. It’s short term, she’s going to be a senior so they do a long term fix for 8-10 months. Done.

As a former military brat, sometimes you just don't get a choice. I remember more than once, my dad coming home and saying, "Sorry, kids. We're leaving in 3 months".

I wasn't saying Scott 100% had his guy when he made the move on woody. I have previously thought that but with me believing brad said no obviously that is not the case. This message was saying that you know who is available when you make the move. That was all.

Tough defense, crash the boards. Consistently one of the worst perimeter shooting teams in the country

Yeah, I HATE how they play offensively. I used to hate watching his Marquette teams play as well for the same reason.

I wouldn't like Buzz for the same reason that I wouldn't like the Leprachaun. They can be really ugly offensively.

Yeah, I’m not buying this is the big reason. I don’t know their family dynamics but if Stevens said, I really want to coach at IU, but hey, you have another 1.5 years of HS left, so I’ll stay if that’s what you want. I gotta admit, I’d be disappointed if my daughter said, then we are staying. Not saying kids aren’t a factor. Just saying I don’t believe that is THE factor.

Only Iowa can answer that.  Not any different than IU going after May.  I think it's pertinent to the IU search which is why I pose the question.

It makes little sense that we appear to be playing second fiddle to Iowa for these candidates.

Allegedly that’s what happened the last time, but with a family vote.

But didn't he feel he was snubbed to be Coach K's heir apparent and one of the reasons he left Duke?   Heat at Duke following K couldn't be that much different than heat at IU following Woodson.

I think he realized Coach K wasn't going to retire anytime soon and he didn't want to wait any longer for a head coaching gig so he took the NW job.

That’s how I remember it. Collins was basically K’s right hand man and presumed heir apparent, but decided he didn’t want to wait around any longer. He was still considered the odds on favorite if K retired for a little while. But eventually Scheyer worked his way into K’s position as heir.

Interesting that they all three are from Chicago. Obviously K played for Knight and the other two for K. Pretty decorated guards, smart guys.  All seem relatively close knit. Of course, the other guy in that little group was Wojochowski and he hasn’t worked out. Capel is another one.
