For the record I'd take Brownell over Cronin.  Cronin I feel is so bad of a fit and to pay 10mil to get him would be one of the worst business decisions Dolson clould make beyond keeping Woodson another year.  Cheap buyout?  Sure.  10mil?  Nope.

@Trish do you think it’s strange that Dolson is scheduling games and there’s rumors floating about potential GM’s/support staff retention without a HC?

I’m not Trish but I would say that Scott values Jordy and folks like Calbert to keep them in the family. Perhaps it’s just an admin role to keep him on payroll.

My reactions to potential candidates:

Cronin: Meh (Good coach, but I don't like him)

McCollum: Meh (Great success at lower level, but not proven)

Buzz: Mildly happy (only an above average coach, but I like him)

McDermott: Very happy

T.J. Otz: Dancing in my living room

Drew: Dancing in my living room

Stevens: Running through the street naked

Brownell: **** you, Scott Dolson

Despite this post, still hoping for Stevens, lol

If in fact Otz‘S buyout is much more modest — $4M as someone posted Goodman said, or similar — then 1) he wants to keep his options open more than has often been speculated, and 2) he’ll be a realistic candidate for any job he wants.

Interesting fact is that Harrelsons dad was an honest to god hitman.  Some people thought he was involved in the JFK assassination but that’s a topic for another day.

I would genuinely love a JFK assassination conspiracy theory thread here lol.

Joking, obviously. But it would be a treasure trove of internet weirdness.

I agree, but I would take McCollum over Brownell, to me both would be a huge risk but McCollum is 10 years younger and in my opinion has a better chance of being a home run!

One thing I know for sure is IU did their homework last time and had a notebook full of reasons why not to hire him and that was before the incident.

They need to add to the notebook of another wrong hire due to performance.

If I had a band, I would name it “Too Many Johnsons”.  Only I would sometimes bill us as “Two Mini Johnsons”.

…..sounds like your band would or could have been the house band for the old “Bullwinkles” in Bloomington, ……back in the day! lol

Brownell started at Clemson in 2010. He’s made the tournament 4 times. This year will be 5. During those same 15 years, Cronin has made the tournament 12 times. This year will be 13. He would’ve made it the Covid season, so 14 times in 15 years. If you don’t want to include the Covid year, he’s at 13 times in 14 years.

I don’t understand the Cronin discourse. Sure I’d love to love the new coach’s personality after four years of Woodson, but making the tournament every year would get me over it.
