Morning everyone. Just wanted to give an update. I know we all have heard a lot of bs recently so I want to make it clear that I am not guaranteeing anything. 

last night there was a shift. People in my circle and people I hear things from went from confusion to all thinking a deal is in place with an announcement in march. Sometime after the regular season, maybe before the big ten tournament but probably before the ncaa tourney. 
 

im starting to think that I jumped the gun on Friday and got a little excited and starting saying we were further along than we were, and that’s on me. If you think about it logically, why would IU announce the next head coach when ours is still coaching? Especially with how nasty woody is being behind the scenes. I do think the Goodman post was intentional to keep noise down because we have a ways to go, again i refer to nick saban saying he will never be the coach of Alabama 13 days before it was announced the coach of Alabama. Obviously if he hasn’t signed yet he could back out at anytime. 
 

if you think I am full of it I understand, I don’t claim to be an insider, I just share things I hear from people who are usually accurate on what they say, but this is where I stand. Go Hoosiers!

Since the fellas are off until next Sunday against the Toiletmakers, and we're back on the Brad Stevens-is-coming train (wink, wink) -- it's gonna be an interesting week here, to say the least.

I’ll post this again.  I happen to know a few legit CBB journalists and none of them are hearing this stuff.  They have dug into the Brad statement and it’s a legit “no” in their view.  Maybe they’re wrong, I hope they are, but I really doubt it.

I love this...so entertaining! No matter what happens, no matter who ends up being the coach, I still have to get up and go to work every morning. It literally makes no difference to me who the coach is. I just love the drama and fun that these coaching searches provide! Bring on the info! Thanks for sharing to those that do!

Has Brad given them the same “no?”   I just don’t buy that “I am not a candidate” = no.  That’s weasel language.  No means no.

Because there was never anything being discussed between IU and Brad.  He was never an option.  He doesn’t need to issue a public denial.

I just got off the phone with a source that is very high up in the IU administration (initials are PW but that’s the only hint I’m giving). This anonymous person said that Brad is actually waiting until the Celtics find out which seed they’ll be in the playoffs, and then he’ll sign the contract. They also said that Goodman is being paid to be a smokescreen because they’re nervous about Shams leaking it before Woodson is gone. Something about property damage? Go Hoosiers!

You don’t have enough credibility around here to push back like this. You and Isaac showed up blowing a bunch of smoke that promptly had cold water thrown on it. You’re in a different boat than the Chris/Jerry types around here, lol. He wants to essentially finish his season as a GM with the Celtics which mainly ends in March 1st as a GM. The verbal agreement still stands but he does not want any announcement until after that point. So the signing Monday won't occur but this is all but locked down. Contract is 6 years 67 million and brad has an option to extend to 10 years after year 3. Just be patient. Hate me because of Goodman's tweet but there is a reason for all this optimism and it's that Brad still is a verbal agreement with IU and both IU and Stevens camp agree to all contract terms. 

 

Brad brownell will not be happy.  I heard he has just set up with a tour of the set of Gilligans island.

I agree the language is vague and it sounds like it could be a Saban situation.  I can’t shake that feeling either.

I’m just sharing what they think, I don’t know exactly what they did to investigate the statement.  They are pros and while I don’t want to believe them, I am forcing myself to.

I’ll be honest I do not understand the love affair with Beard from a strictly coaching perspective. He’s being canonized for a two year run at TT half a decade ago. His conference coaching record is pedestrian at the P4 level and seriously inflated by one outstanding year at TT, followed immediately by two mediocre seasons before leaving town. Maybe he would have made Texas a juggernaut, we will never know since he got fired for cause. His coaching record on paper looks worse than Cronin with less tournament and P4 experience. 
 

I think he’s a good coach, but the emotion of the disagreement I think has people putting him in some weird class by himself when the numbers and record don’t actually warrant that level of obsession.

The University and its fans continue to hold onto this outdated perception of the programs value and status in the college basketball world. We have accomplished little to nothing over the last 30+ years….. so little that the only people who view us as a blueblood are Indiana fans and people like Dick Vitale….

The elitist attitude and moral superiority of the university and fans, is frustrating. It’s really wearing thin on me, honestly. 

So many of the fans refuse to extend grace to any coach with any known past transgressions. As if they are completely irredeemable…There are people on this site who still despise Kelvin Sampson and would adamantly say they wouldn’t want him. 

I’m not calling you out individually. I appreciate a lot of your posts and perspective on most things. Again…Just exhausted from people not extending any grace to anyone that’s not a saint.

The way I see it, is that IU doesn’t have anything to lose. We are at the absolute rock bottom, when you consider our history and where we are now. We’ve won 5 titles,  haven’t won one in nearly 40 years, and have no legitimate reasons to believe we will be able to compete for one in the next 2-5 years….. or beyond… unless this hire is absolutely nailed. 
 

If we hire a guy that’s is clearly below Beards level, than I personally don’t know that I’ll be able to give much more attention and support to the program. It will be officially dead to me. I’m sick of the false hope. I need to see action at this point.

People despise Sampson for what he did at IU and how that impacted IU.

Refuse to extend grace to any coach with any known past transgressions? I guess you haven't seen all the posts that would be  happy to have Pearl or Few to name 2 with past transgressions that people would be willing to forgive.

DV is a whole other thing. Couple that with drinking and he's a time bomb. Worth the risk for someone who has won only 54% of P4 conference  games in his career and has been unable to come close to replicating the success he had 6 and 7 years ago?

IU will not hire Coach Facial Hair.
