Just interesting after Goodman's comments Friday night and Rabjohns tonight. You may not like them, but the Field of 68 is probably the best there is at covering our sport (give them a shot. It's not just Goodman on there). Not saying it'll be TJ. It's just worth keeping an eye on. TJ I think would be as close to a "grand slam" hire as we could get. His teams the last few years have improved so much offensively. My only concern is they have a legit Final Four contending team. I just don't see a coach taking a team to the final four and leaving that same year. Kind of hope they make Sweet 16 and get beat for that sake. I agree 100 percent, if the Stevens stuff doesn't work out, Otz would be my next top pick! I expect Dolson to ask for my input anyday!!! lol Hoosierfanyuh, IU Prof, JustWinBaby and 4 others 6 1

I don't want guys with pretty clear ceilings. I think Otzelberger, Williams, Cronin, and some others are okay, but does anyone thing any of those guys ever has a chance to be great? Here for 20 years; 6-8 Big Ten titles, 3-4 final fours, etc? I'm used to having unpopular takes but it would feel like settling to me if we hired any of those guys. I like the idea of Chris Collins with more resources and better players..I think he'd be really good here. I like the idea of Brad Brownell because he's from Indiana and was a high school team mate of Calbert Cheaney (who I REALLY want IU to keep) I like the idea of Ben McCollum or Josh Schertz because I think both have high ceilings. And both fit the Cignetti mold. I'd love Chris Beard and he'd crawl to Bloomington. If IU can look past the allegations.....yes, please One man's opinion. IMO, Collins would be phenomenal. Deep down, I think he woukd want it too. I listen to him all the time on Chicago radio and it’s apples to oranges compared to Woodson (and Archie - whom I really liked as the hire at the time). Collins absolutely has the personality for iu. Very relatable. Talks like a dude we can all relate to. thebigweave 1

Ugh your brown brownell want is how we ended up with woody though. i think otzelberger would be here 20 years yes. You’re guaranteed a top 5 defense with him and at least the last two years he’s had top 40 offenses so I’d like to think he’s figured it out on that end. Those are lofty goals tho. How many coaches go to 4 final fours in 20 years? JPCIVOP, AZ Hoosier and FWA-EVV 3

How many coaches go to 4 final fours in 20 years? Guaranteed? I disagree. Lots of elite coaches go to 4 final fours in 20 years. If you believe we can't achieve that, you already lose. Here are a few recent examples Bill Self Tom Izzo Mike Krysiewski Roy Williams 'Jim Boeheim Jim Calhoun John Calipari Rick Pitino Billy Donovan Jay Wright Hell...Ben Howland went to 3 in a row. That's not a lofty or unreasonable goal at Indiana. Uspshoosier 1

rcbowla Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Brownell, McCollum, Alford and Collins would be "we struck the **** out" hires imo. There are so many good candidates that it should never get to these guys. I could get behind a Schertz if we got down that far though.

rcbowla Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I should ammend my comment putting McCollum in with those guys. He'd just be scary as hell with the possibility of being good or making it 12 years of inept basketball.

Popular Post OKHOOSIER Posted February 26 Popular Post Posted February 26 Getting caught up this early AM and come to find a BTB gambling ring was established. What a ride that catch up session was lol Do we really think Otz is more than a dart board option? Think I would prefer Drew, but if Otz's people are actually reaching out with interest that would be quite the coup of a hire. Saw the Big12 arguments, and while valid, I think it is more related to him peaking at ISU given their resources. I spoke to someone yesterday tied into Ames and the NIL situation is average to poor. This guy also stated if IU made an aggressive offer, ISU would have trouble matching (they already raised football and basketball ticket prices specifically to fund coach and assistant coach salaries). Apparently the general consensus there is they have generally avoided losing their best players because they want to play for Otz versus NIL being the factor, and Otz has stayed so far because he loves ISU and Ames. Take it with a grain of salt, but I thought it was interesting. Chris007, 8bucks, VFury and 15 others 15 2 1
